Job description

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for managing a warehouse department by customarily and regularly directing the work of at least two or more full-time associates or their equivalent associates that report to them. The individual in this position will oversee and coordinate daily warehousing activities, implement production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards, and achieve the appropriate level of production within established time limits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To Perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential function.
  • Supervise associates engaged in various warehouse functions; assign and prioritize daily tasks; determine priorities and work assignments; ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments, products, and materials.
  • Maintain staffing level to accomplish warehouse operations in an effective and efficient manner; prepare work schedules to meet customer requirements and expectations and company schedules and specifications; use independent judgment to assign team member work duties to meet operational requirements; make sure team members and co-workers have the information needed to perform their job duties; approve leave and overtime as appropriate.
  • Lead regular and periodic department meetings; ensure labor and other expenses are in line with budget.
  • Inspect operations to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, specifications, and customer requirements and expectations.
  • Measure, track, and report on quality and productivity of assigned department(s).
  • Direct storage of products, inventory activities, shipping and receiving, loading, and unloading, cycle counts, incoming and outgoing receipts and documentation, and other warehousing related activities.
  • Manage the state of the powered industrial truck fleet; responsible for organizing preventative maintenance and requisitioning new or replacement equipment.
  • Monitors the flow of paperwork for timely data entry.
  • Supervise team members in a manner that enables growth and success through feedback, training, and encouragement. Ensure team members have access to provide regular feedback and understand how their job duties support the company's mission and have the right tools/resources to do their jobs well.
  • Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance.
  • Continually evaluate processes, make recommendations, and implement improvements to optimize efficiency.
  • Establish and document standard operating procedures and ensure the team is adhering to them.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness. Understand and apply lean manufacturing tools and methodology to lead team in continuous improvement activities.
  • Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree in a related field, six months related experience, or any satisfactory combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above duties.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift license through Highline Warren Distribution.
  • Proven warehouse supervisory experience.
  • Warehouse and logistics experience preferred.
  • Management/leadership experience or education preferred.
