Job Title: Regional Benefits Account Manager VP

Reports to: Senior Vice President of Operations

Job Purpose
The Regional Benefits Account Manager VP is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the performance, growth, and operations of employee benefits activities within a designated region. This position focuses on delivering service excellence, strengthening client retention, supporting revenue growth, and leading a high-performing team of Benefits Account Managers to meet strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership
  • Train, mentor, and manage a team of Benefits Account Managers to achieve performance goals and deliver exceptional client outcomes.

2. Business Strategy
  • Contribute to the development and execution of regional employee benefits strategies, establishing retention targets, growth objectives, and operational plans.
  • Drive best practices, service standards, and process adherence down to the Agency level.
  • Implement regional retention and growth initiatives, identify new business opportunities, and promote cross-selling and account rounding to maximize client engagement and revenue growth.

3. Market Analysis and Benefits Expertise
  • Stay current on local and national employee benefits trends, healthcare market developments, economic conditions, and regulatory changes to guide regional decision-making and maintain competitive positioning.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the regional benefits market, competitive landscape, carrier offerings, funding arrangements, and vendor capabilities.

4. Plan Strategy, Compliance & Profitability
  • Ensure client objectives, compliance standards, retention goals, and profitability targets are met through effective oversight of plan strategy, renewals, service delivery, and book management.

5. Regional Collaboration and Client, Carrier & Vendor Relations
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and vendor partners, ensuring exceptional service, responsiveness, and trust-based partnerships.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff (e.g., Benefits Account Managers, Benefits Coordinators, etc.) within the region, Agency Partners and their leaders, and Regional Presidents (RPs) to assess performance, share insights, and promote alignment with company goals.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • College degree with a minimum of 3 years of employee benefits experience, or a minimum of 5 years of employee benefits experience.
  • Valid Life & Health insurance license required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Industry Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits insurance, plan design, funding arrangements, renewal and marketing processes, carrier products, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop professional staff within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret claims, utilization, financial, and market data and identify growth opportunities.
  • Management Experience: Significant experience in a senior management or leadership position within the employee benefits or insurance brokerage industry.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities for engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily office-based with extended periods of computer use.
  • Travel within the assigned region is required for client meetings and team collaboration.
