ABOUT THE LUCAS MUSEUM OF NARRATIVE ART
Opening in September 2026, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is dedicated to illustrated storytelling.ย  Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum's collection features works by artists including Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judith F. Baca, Frida Kahlo, and Maxfield Parrish; as well as comic art legends such as Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, and R. Crumb; and photographers Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Dorothea Lange. The Museum also houses the Lucas Archives, containing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucas's filmmaking career.ย

Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD with a landscape by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA, the Museum is in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on an 11-acre campus that includes new green space and a 300,000-square-foot building with galleries, two theaters, a library, restaurant, cafe, retail store, and community spaces.ย

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Retail, the Assistant Manager, Visual Merchandising leads the execution of visual presentation strategies that enhance the guest experience, strengthen brand storytelling, and support sales growth. This role oversees the day-to-day visual appearance of the store, ensuring displays, signage, and merchandising standards are executed with creativity, consistency, and attention to detail to create an engaging and customer-focused shopping environment.ย ย 

The Assistant Manager also fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture that promotes creativity, operational excellence, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging through thoughtful visual representation and team leadership.ย 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the execution and maintenance of visual merchandising standards, floor sets, and product displaysย 

  • Ensure the sales floor is visually compelling, organized, and aligned with brand and seasonal merchandising strategiesย 

  • Support the development and implementation of merchandising plans that drive customer engagement and sales performanceย 

  • Monitor visual presentation, product placement, and inventory flow to maximize space productivity and product visibilityย 

  • Train and coach frontline staff on merchandising standards, product presentation, and visual upkeep expectationsย 

  • Partner with Operations teams to support efficient replenishment and execution of floor changesย 

  • Collaborate with Customer Experience teams to ensure visual presentation enhances the overall guest journeyย 

  • Analyze sales trends and customer behavior toย identifyย merchandising opportunities and improve product storytellingย 

  • Maintain cleanliness, fixture organization, signage accuracy, and visual consistency throughout the storeย

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years of progressive experienceย visual merchandising, or related experienceย role, preferably for an arts&culturalinstitutionorprominent consumer brandย 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent requiredย 

  • Strong understanding of visual merchandising principles, space planning, product presentation, and customer flow strategiesย 

  • Demonstrated ability to execute merchandising plans, floor sets, and promotional displays with strong attention to detailย 

  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing frontline teams toย maintainย visual and operational standardsย 

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to adapt in a dynamic environmentย 

  • Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve customer and operational issues professionally and effectivelyย 

  • Ability to analyze sales trends and customer behaviors to support merchandising decisions and business goalsย 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner across multiple teams and functionsย 

  • Commitment to delivering an inclusive, welcoming, and visually engaging customer experienceย 

  • Proficiencyย with retail systems, point-of-sale systems, and Microsoft Office or similar business applicationsย preferredย
