FOX Entertainment Global (FEG) is FOX Entertainment's centralized content sales division, providing the worldwide multi-platform marketplace with exclusive access to its diverse, rapidly expanding production pipeline and library of owned original programming and co-production partnerships. A central component of FOX Entertainment's long-term growth strategy is to fortify its globally recognized, world-class brand and owned distribution platforms spanning broadcast and streaming with FOX Entertainment Global's singular focus on broadly distributing the company's full portfolio of owned intellectual property across all genres of scripted, unscripted, and animated programming, including both film and television titles.

FOX Entertainment is seeking a Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs to serve as a senior transactional attorney and departmental leader supporting FEG. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, this executive will help lead day-to-day legal operations, mentor legal personnel, and oversee legal support for global distribution, content acquisitions, and sales across all media platforms. The VP and SVP will partner closely with Sales, Acquisitions, Deal & Rights Management, Finance, Marketing, Technology, and Senior Leadership.

Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace for a minimum of four (4) days per week is an essential function of the position. The selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Structure, draft, review, and negotiate complex, high-value commercial agreements across all global territories and media windows, including linear, Network, Cable, Pay TV, FAST, AVOD, SVOD, TVOD, EST, Theatrical, etc.
  • Partner with the Content Acquisitions team and draft, negotiate, and finalize acquisition agreements, output deals, and third-party content contracts across all genres and media
  • Draft and negotiate complex scripted and unscripted format licensing agreements, local-language adaptations, and co-production deals worldwide
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs on high-level legal strategy, complex deal structures, and executive decision-making across all distribution and acquisition initiatives
  • Manage day-to-day legal department workflows, establish project priorities, oversee contract progress, and review agreements drafted by junior attorneys while driving talent development and mentorship
  • Serve as a senior legal advisor to Sales, Acquisitions, Deal & Rights Management, Finance, Operations, Technology, and Senior Leadership on legal risk, deal terms, and commercial opportunities
  • Analyze complex license agreements to advise internal teams, including Deal & Rights Management and Content on underlying rights, holdbacks, exclusivity, windowing and territorial restrictions to prevent rights conflicts
  • Handle general corporate legal matters, and enterprise-wide strategic projects as assigned

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar admission in good standing (California Bar or Registered In-House Counsel preferred)
  • 12+ years of transactional legal experience, primarily within an international television content distribution division, media studio, streaming platform, or top-tier law firm supporting distribution and sales
  • Proven experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex distribution, tape licensing, format, and content acquisition agreements across all media
  • Demonstrated leadership experience directly supervising, training, and mentoring attorneys and legal personnel
  • Expert-level understanding of global media exploitation and rights management
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships across executive leadership and cross-functional partners

  • Hands-on experience or familiarity with digital rights databases and enterprise tools (e.g., Rightsline, Salesforce)

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $247,000.00-350,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
