American Fan is a manufacturer of air movement equipment for Industrial, HVAC, Commercial, Marine, and specialty markets. Our sales distribution base consists of a diverse group of knowledgeable agents/representatives. Together with our in-house sales staff they deliver a very high level of customer service.

Reports To: Vice President / General Manager

Summary

American Fan has an opportunity for a Sales Manager based in our Fairfield, OH facility. In this role, you will manage and execute the sales strategy for American Fan while directly leading and developing the sales team. You will focus on increasing customer responsiveness, growing sales through direct and indirect channels, and improving sales processes and tools. The ideal candidate is system- and process-focused, committed to continuous self-development, and skilled at coaching others and building strong relationships with customers and internal partners.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and daily use of a structured sales system, including basic processes, standard work, and simple KPIs.
  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the sales team, helping prioritize work and remove basic roadblocks.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with team members to review progress, clarify expectations, and provide straightforward, constructive feedback.
  • Work with leadership to understand and execute the overall sales strategy; translate it into clear, practical actions for the team.
  • Help maintain and grow relationships with key Navy and industrial customers, as well as the Sales Representative Network, with guidance from senior leaders.
  • Assist in developing territory and account plans, and track progress against goals.
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Product Management, Operations, and Engineering to address customer needs and resolve routine issues.
  • Gather and share basic market and competitor information with leadership and the team.
  • Support improvements to sales tools, reporting, and processes to improve responsiveness and efficiency.
  • Embody the FMD values of Integrity, Velocity, and Teamwork.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years of successful sales experience (inside or outside sales) in industrial, marine, HVAC, or related markets.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a team lead, senior sales, or informal leadership role (e.g., mentoring peers, training new hires, or leading projects) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of customers, products, and service offerings, or the ability and willingness to learn quickly.
  • Experience using a basic sales process and CRM tools; exposure to sales planning, forecasting, or pipeline management is a plus.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and sales representatives.
  • Very proficient in Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – active listener, clear and concise communicator (both oral and written); collaborative and team-oriented.
