Job description

The Project Engineer position will champion UCOR projects, serving as the primary engineering point of contact (POC) responsible for establishing engineering estimates, coordinating with stakeholders, and overall engineering execution on assigned projects.
Responsibilities
  • Serves as the final approver on design packages, scopes of work, etc. ensuring we are performing within scope at the appropriate level of rigor.
  • Coordinates with Engineering Supervisors to ensure projects are scoped correctly and adequate engineering resources are allocated for execution of design, procurement, and construction activities.
  • May assist in the development of engineering products such as: calculations, specifications, scopes of work, analyses, designs and design changes, engineering reports, etc. within their engineering discipline commensurate with grade level.
  • Follows procedures in execution of day-to-day activities and maintains a working level knowledge of configuration management.
  • Maintains a working level knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Maintains timely and accurate oral and written reports regarding project status.
  • Keeps proper engineering files and records.
  • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.
  • Keeps Project Manager, Manager of Engineering, Chief Engineer, Principal Engineers and/or Supervising Discipline Engineers advised of project progress, performance and manpower utilization with particular attention to delays, adverse trends, errors and omissions.
  • Promptly reviews, comments on, and approves Design Change Notices (DCN), Engineering Instructions (EI), Field Change Requests (FCR)
  • Identifies possible scope creep or change and assists the Project Manager in pertinent aspects of change order management.
  • Prepares penetration and excavation permits, Engineering Scoping Documents (ESD), and Pre-Job Briefs.
  • Identifies, reviews and coordinates subcontractor/supplier submittals.
  • Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments.
  • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.
  • Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company.
  • Conforms to company core values.
  • Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility.
Job-Related Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university
Experience: 7 to 12+ years of experience required. Professional Engineer License preferred. Experience executing projects in a DOE regulated environment preferred.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience working on Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) projects.
  • Experience in Civil, Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of project planning and execution practices (scopes of work, estimates, project metrics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
