Job description

Micro-Tronics is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant 1 to support day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow within a collaborative finance team while gaining exposure to a wide range of accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities

Daily / Weekly

  • Prepare and record journal entries (cash, accruals, reclasses)
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable (AP), including invoice coding and weekly check runs
  • Support accounts receivable (AR), including cash applications and postings
  • Maintain general ledger (GL) activity and account accuracy
  • Review and validate employee expense reports

Month-End Close

  • Assist with month-end close activities and journal entries
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts (prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, etc.)
  • Maintain and roll forward supporting schedules
  • Assist with variance analysis and financial reporting support
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit trails are maintained

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
  • Assist with sales tax or indirect tax filings
  • Support year-end 1099 preparation and reporting

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support internal and external audits (PBC requests, schedules)
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies or issues
  • Assist with process improvements and system enhancements
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis, budgeting, and special projects
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP fundamentals
  • Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Familiarity with AP/expense tools (e.g., Concur, Bill.com) is a plus
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
  • Timely and accurate completion of month-end close
  • Accuracy and quality of financial data
  • Productivity and efficiency
  • Compliance with internal controls and policies
