Position Overview

As the Welding Manager at TIC - The Industrial Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, you will lead and oversee welding operations at the project level. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with welding objectives, quality control programs, relevant codes, and standards. Additionally, you will manage a team of skilled welders to maintain high standards of welding operations, contributing significantly to the success of the projects in the energy infrastructure sector.

District Overview

TIC Power (TICP) is a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation that provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a non-union craft force. Strength in estimating and pre-project planning. Constructing cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal and waste-to-energy generation and resource facilities. TIC Power builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities
  • Track and analyze welder production, forecast welding productivity, and provide corrective actions for the project, maintaining a deep understanding of all relevant welding account codes.
  • Optimize welding production and quality through thorough evaluation of production processes, consumables, equipment, planning, and training processes.
  • Support training needs at local unions and assist Quality Control in troubleshooting weld defects and providing necessary corrective actions.
  • Ensure quality oversite of welding operations in the field, including witnessing initial welds of new welders and first welds on high energy systems.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of contract/client specific requirements, welding codes, and Corporate ASME Quality Control Manual.
  • Assist field staff in identifying correct weld procedures, welders, and participate in project planning for welding operations.
  • Designate filler metal requirements, manage welding gas distribution systems, and conduct on-site staff welding training as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in welding management on construction projects, demonstrating a track record of success.
  • Hold a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Preferably possess a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a related field, showcasing a strong educational background.
  • Expertise in Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Quality Performance Requirements (QPRs), welding standards, and training methodologies for driving quality and efficiency.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Readiness to travel extensively to job sites across the United States, embracing diverse locations and projects.
