Job description

Job Title: Solar Service Technician
Position Summary:
SunVena is seeking a highly motivated Service Technician. The position will report to the Service Manager and will be an integral member of the team focused on completing service calls, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance services for SunVena's photovoltaic (PV) systems. The ideal Service Technician will be comfortable traveling to customer locations to perform equipment and machine repairs, install and test products, and instruct customers on proper usage. To be successful, you should have excellent technical and mechanical skills, along with fundamental knowledge of hand, power, and diagnostic equipment and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of all PV system components, including inverters, string boxes, and solar panels.
  • Assist in the commissioning of the solar array and monitoring systems during project installation when needed
  • Perform re-roofs, roof repairs, and drywall repairs as needed
  • Install, commission, and inspect all PV modules, inverters, and monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure that PV systems are set up correctly.
  • Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules, and electrical equipment
  • Electrical wiring of solar array/system (AC and DC)
  • Perform voltage testing using appropriate PPE and procedures
  • Ensure tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management and environmental, health, and safety standards, policies,s and procedures
  • Ability to understand or have experience in Electrical Panels, including Sub Panels (MBD derate, conduit bending, relocating circuits, etc.)
  • Ability to understand or have experience in Monitoring equipment (Cat5, Zigbee, Router, Range Extender and ETC )
  • Ability to understand or have experience with all types of Solar Equipment (Enphase, Tesla, SolarEdge, SMA)
  • Diagnose and resolve issues such as production loss, inverters, shorts, faults, and power outages.
  • Understanding of battery backup systems (Enphase, Tesla, etc)
  • Understanding of Standalone Metering equipment (CT for production and consumption)
  • Complete RMA's and log project documentation

Qualifications Requirements
  • Experience with Electrical Panels, including Sub Panels (MBD derate, conduit bending, circuit relocation).
  • Experience with various Solar Equipment (e.g., Enphase, Tesla, SolarEdge, SMA).
  • Experience with Monitoring equipment (e.g., Cat5, Zigbee, Router, Range Extender).
  • Knowledge of battery backup systems (e.g., Enphase, Tesla).
  • Knowledge of Standalone Metering equipment (e.g., Current Transformers (CT) for production and consumption).
  • Must be willing and able to work safely at heights (ladders, stairs, rooftops) and in confined areas. Able to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, which include bending, lifting heavy equipment (50lbs +), and working in confined spaces to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Ability to work in various environments (example: hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.)
  • Must be willing and able to travel overnight throughout the state when necessary.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license
