Job description

About the role

We're looking for a storyteller, communications specialist, or a producer to build and scale Uber's technical thought leadership platform.

Reporting to the Head of Product Communications, you'll own how Uber's technology story comes to life across podcast, executive social, and earned media. You'll lead the editorial strategy and production of a monthly podcast hosted by Uber's CTO, while partnering with engineering leaders to elevate the people and technologies shaping the future of mobility and delivery, AI, and marketplace innovation.

This role is equal parts editorial director, executive producer, and communications strategist. You'll identify the stories worth telling, shape compelling narratives, secure high-impact guests, produce compelling and differentiated content, and amplify those stories across social, press, and owned channels to strengthen Uber's position as a destination for top technical talent and innovators.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about engineering, thrives in ambiguity, loves building new editorial products from the ground up, and has the creativity, judgment, and execution skills to produce work that stands out in a crowded technology landscape.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end editorial vision, production, and execution of Uber's new external technology podcast-from concept development through recording, editing, publishing, promotion, and performance analysis.
  • Partner directly with Uber's CTO and senior engineering leaders to develop authentic, insightful conversations that elevate Uber's technical leadership.
  • Develop and execute thoughtful executive social media strategies-primarily on X-to amplify the voices of Uber's technology leaders and extend the reach of key technical narratives.
  • Own the editorial voice and content strategy for Uber's senior technology leaders on X, crafting timely, authentic content that translates complex technical topics into engaging conversations.
  • Spot emerging technology trends and develop timely editorial that resonates with technical audiences around AI, machine learning, infrastructure, autonomy, cybersecurity, and the future of software engineering.
  • Apply strong editorial judgment to translate complex technical work into simple, compelling stories without sacrificing technical credibility.
  • Build relationships with leading researchers, founders, technologists, academics, industry voices, and journalists to secure exceptional guests, identify emerging trends, and broaden Uber's influence within the technology ecosystem.
  • Develop integrated content strategies that extend each episode across social media, press, executive channels, video, and other owned platforms.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Communications, Engineering, Marketing, Creative, Legal, and Production teams to deliver high-quality content at a consistent cadence.
  • Measure audience growth, engagement, and impact across podcast and executive social channels, continuously evolving the editorial strategy based on performance and industry trends.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years in journalism, podcast production, editorial or strategic communications at another tech company
  • Experience producing executive-facing editorial content
  • Excellent writing/editing skills
  • Proven project management expertise
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background as a technology journalist, editor, or producer covering technology, AI, engineering, or startups.
  • Experience writing or producing for an engineering audience specifically.
  • Experience developing and managing executive thought leadership on social platforms, particularly X, with a strong understanding of how technical conversations gain traction online.
  • Established relationships with technology reporters, influential creators, researchers, founders, and AI industry leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape executive thought leadership and create content that influences industry conversations.
  • Experience producing long-form interview content, podcasts, or editorial programming from concept through launch.
  • Experience working directly with executives in high-profile, fast-moving environments.
  • Strong creative instincts paired with excellent editorial judgment
  • Familiarity with audio, video, and social-first production workflows, including translating long-form conversations into compelling multi-platform content.
