Job description

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to support and evolve a complex enterprise infrastructure environment in Libertyville, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position combines hands-on systems administration with infrastructure design, offering an opportunity to shape reliable on-premises, cloud, and hybrid platforms. The role will partner closely with IT operations leadership to strengthen core systems, improve performance, and deliver scalable architecture across servers, networks, and cloud services.
Responsibilities:
• Design and support enterprise infrastructure solutions spanning on-premises environments, cloud platforms, and hybrid deployments.
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code frameworks while promoting modern, scalable approaches such as serverless computing and AWS Lambda-based solutions.
• Administer physical and virtual server environments, including Windows Server platforms, VMware and Hyper-V systems, and related core infrastructure technologies.
• Oversee network components and connectivity by managing routing, switching, NAT, DNS, and other critical network services across business environments.
• Serve as a technical resource for IT operations by resolving complex infrastructure issues through both remote and on-site support.
• Lead infrastructure initiatives from planning through implementation, ensuring technical milestones align with operational goals and project expectations.
• Manage identity and access systems, including Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, IAM, and associated domain, policy, and trust configurations.
• Participate in formal change processes and contribute to change review activities within an enterprise IT environment.
• Support and integrate key enterprise tools and platforms such as Microsoft 365, Exchange, ServiceNow, Okta, CyberArk, and other operational technologies as needed.• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting advanced infrastructure issues across cloud, server, and network environments.
• Strong background designing and maintaining large-scale enterprise infrastructure that includes on-premises systems, cloud services, and hybrid architecture.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration and core networking concepts.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory, including group policies, domains, trusts, and directory services management.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and enterprise messaging or collaboration platforms.
• Experience supporting virtualized environments using VMware and/or Hyper-V.
• Familiarity with structured change management practices in an enterprise setting.
• Ability to join a rotating on-call schedule and communicate effectively with both technical teams and end users.
