Position: Assistant Program Manager
Program: Synergy House
Status: Full-Time, Hourly position.
Available Shift:
Sunday - OFF
Monday - OFF
Tuesday -OFF
Wednesday - 9:00am-7:00pm
Thursday - 12:00pm-10:00pm
Friday - 12:00pm-10:00pm
Saturday - 12:00pm-10:00pm
Description:
Our teen shelter is an emergency crisis shelter for teens 12-18 years of age, providing a caring, therapeutic environment. Will also provide advocacy and crisis intervention services for our clients. Other responsibilities include: complete intake interviews, answering hotline, safety planning and facilitating community building activities with clients as needed.
Assistant Program Manager - Synergy House provides direct supervision and management of program during hours assigned to ensure quality of services. Direct responsibilities include the scheduling, planning, assigning and directing of work of assigned staff. Will address complaints and resolve problems of staff as necessary. Position assists the Synergy House Program Manager with interviewing, hiring, rewarding, disciplining, and appraising the performance of assigned staff. Follows Standard Operating Procedures established for the site in day-to-day responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Client Services
  • Models safe, respectful boundaries in accordance with Synergy Services, Inc. policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  • Provide individual support for clients, participates in weekly case reviews, and assist with case management as needed.
  • Supervises the Aftercare Program.
  • Ensure client participation in the creation of the monthly activity calendar. Networks with outside agencies for activity planning.
  • Supervise the 24-hr. crisis line, client intakes and discharges.
  • Assist with advocate work as necessary including the daily supervision of residents and document in CCL as needed.
  • Administers prescribed and over the counter medications per physicians' orders once Missouri Med Tech certification has been received. Completes weekly medication administration audit.
  • Refers youth and families to appropriate resources for help and provide advocacy for clients as needed.
  • Coordinate all staff and intern schedules for all Synergy House employees. Responsible for assuring that all shifts are covered with regular or back-up staff.
  • Responsible to provide orientation and ongoing training at Synergy House for all new Synergy House employees.

Administrative
  • Assist the Synergy House Program Manager in directing the day-to-day operations of the shelter, including, but not limited to:
  • Supplies inventory and purchasing.
  • Assure completion of all paperwork/forms associated with client services including maintenance and storage of files according to program requirements. Complete monthly Q.A.
  • Conducting monthly feedback group with the clients and sharing the information gathered through these feedback groups with staff.
  • Provides direct supervision of assigned client advocate staff for the shift the Assistant Program Manager is responsible for. Documents personnel issues as needed. Serves as client advocate when necessary.
  • Maintains adequate staffing levels by coordinating staff schedules and assists the Synergy House Program Manager with the hiring of programmatic staff as needed or required.
  • In collaboration with the Synergy House Program Manager performs annual appraisals and assists in salary review recommendations. Documents personnel issues as needed.
  • Develops and implements short term and long-term plans for staff development and training of new employees, interns and volunteers. Assure that critical learning and experience has been received by the end of training and prior to staffing shelter.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings. Ensure staff meeting minutes are forwarded to the Director of Youth Residential Services, all full time and PRN staff.
  • Compile statistical data necessary for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for local, state and federal funders as needed to assist the Synergy House Program Manager.
  • Serve as supervisor and provide direction and training for Youth advocates. Ensure all mandatory trainings and certifications are completed by Youth Advocates in a timely manner
  • Screens and approve placement requests as needed.
  • Oversee and approve bi-weekly payroll.
  • Facilitate Synergy House and Youth Campus training as needed.
  • Oversee North Kansas City Title 1 funding.
  • Liaison between Synergy House and community, Children's Division, educational system, etc.
  • Other
  • Serve in the on-call supervisor rotation for the Youth Campus. Comes in to shelter when necessary, during rotation.
  • Serves as campus Safe Crisis Management (SCM) Trainer for SH and Youth Campus staff.
  • Serves as back-up when others are on-call.
  • Participation in Performance and Quality Improvement activity is required by each employee.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees, volunteers, and interns in Synergy House during hours assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Highly Preferred Requirements: An advanced degree in social work or a comparable human service field and at least two years of direct care experience in human services; or a bachelor's degree in social work or a comparable human service field and four years of direct care experience in human services.
Minimum Requirements: Associates degree in social work or comparable human service field and four years of direct care experience in human services: or High School diploma or GED and six years of direct care experience in human services.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and analyze an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
The employee in this position must be CPR/First Aid certified, have Medication Technician certification, have Safe Crisis Management certification, have Food Handlers Permit and have a valid Class E Drivers license.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The employee in this position must have the ability to type and use computer software, including Windows, Word for Windows, and EXCEL. Must be familiar with Medical Terminology and with DSM IV diagnoses.

Must be at least 20 years of age, pass a background check and Family Care Safety Registry screening, fingerprint screen, drug screen, and have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. Position requires CPR, Med Tech Certification and Chauffeur's License within 30 days from the date of hire.
