Job description

Greater Ohio Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking a skilled and compassionate Surgical Assistant to join our esteemed team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons. As part of a multi-state network supported by P3 Partners, we provide advanced surgical care and facial cosmetic services with a commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care. Our Surgical Assistants play a crucial role in supporting our surgeons during procedures, ensuring patient safety, and facilitating efficient surgical workflow. This position is ideal for individuals who are meticulous, proactive, and dedicated to enhancing patient outcomes through exceptional surgical support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, as needed.
  • Review and document patient medical histories.
  • Ensure all required consent forms are properly completed and signed.
  • Prepare and process patient prescriptions with accuracy.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, EKG, and pulse oximetry.
  • Accurately document anesthesia records and patient charting.
  • Maintain patient airways during sedation and perform suctioning when necessary.
  • Provide post-operative monitoring and remain with patients until released to a caregiver.
  • Prepare and sanitize surgical and examination rooms.
  • Assist with ongoing surgical procedures as needed.
  • Uphold strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Support overall clinic operations by maintaining patient flow and completing additional duties assigned by the Clinical Manager.

Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Surgical Assistant or relevant training in surgical assisting preferred.
  • Experience in an oral surgery, dental surgery, or medical surgical setting strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and team members.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization procedures, and operating room protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multitask, and maintain focus in a high-pressure environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and staff.
  • Ability to follow strict infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and compassionate care.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and physical movement.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to physically assist patients, including lifting, pulling, and supporting.
  • Ability to maintain a firm grip on instruments for extended periods (up to one hour).
  • Manual dexterity to frequently grasp, hold, adjust, and manipulate instruments.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, with relevant certifications preferred.
  • Prior experience in surgical assisting or a related healthcare role preferred.
  • Dental assisting and/or surgical assisting certification preferred.
  • Current DAANCE, Nitrous Oxide (Nโ‚‚O), and CPR certifications required
