Job description

Doing Steel is looking for a skilled, professional Maintenance Supervisor. This is a hands-on role, primarily within the facility, ensuring the safety and operational effectiveness of all equipment, with emphasis on and knowledge of overhead cranes. You'll be working with great team members focusing First On Safety to ensure equipment is maintained for safety and efficiency. Job Title:

Maintenance Supervisor

Primary Function:

To inspect, repair, replace, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment, including hydraulic equipment at facility.

Tools and Equipment:

Drill press, power saw, chain pull, burning equipment, portable drill and grinder, miscellaneous stores materials, hand tolls, measuring devices, packing tools, safety equipment, pipe machine, etc.

Materials:

Plant mechanical equipment, repair parts, lubricants, hardware, packing, miscellaneous stores materials, pipe, hydraulic fluid, valves, regulators, pumps, cylinders, etc.

Reports to: Production Manager

Supervisor- performs work with a minimum of direction; works alone or directs other persons as needed.

Job Duties:

1. Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done.

2. Inspects equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, hydraulic systems, etc. Determines best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production. Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.

3. Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles hydraulic equipment and lubricates mechanical equipment. Adjust equipment for proper operating gears, bearings and shafts involving the operation of press, sliding and running fits. Operates machine tools, such as drill press, pip-threading machine, power saw, etc. Babbitts and scrapes bear as required. Knowledgeable on 480 volt 3 phase systems.

4. Performs all mechanical repairs as required on cranes and mobile equipment.

5. Lays out, installs, maintains and repairs all types of pipe lines, fittings, fixtures and pressure systems as required.

6. Repairs leaks in hydraulic systems. Replaces section of pipe that have sprung leaks. Removes and installs complete operating components such as cylinders, oil motors, four-way valves, etc. that are kept as spares for assemblies on production units and makes necessary repairs to same.

7. Changes, sets up and adjusts equipment as required by current operating conditions.

8. Works with repair crews as directed and/or required.

9. Completes reports and forms as required.

10. Exercises all required safety precautions and maintains a clean work area.

11, Operates mobile equipment as required.

12. Operates crane as required for maintenance purposes.

13. Manages hazardous waste.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Exposure to dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.
