Job Description

Reports directly to the Molding Engineering Supervisor. Will perform all phases of new product development/introduction to include: molding validations from setting up and starting a new mold to writing the needed documentation to interface between Divisional Molding, Manufacturing Process Technologies and assembly areas to insure all essential requirements are satisfied. Duties will also include providing the Molding Department with technical assistance and training as required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Organize, plan, and execute activities to insure proper mold validations are performed
  • Develop a consistent, quality process on new molds and products.
  • Monitor and Document processes as IM department requires
  • Write validation documents and department specifications.
  • Install prototype molds and ancillary equipment.
  • Assist Molding Process Engineers with Department projects.
  • Provide Technical assistance to the Injection Molding Department as required.
  • Work directly with Mold Approval Technician on part measurements
  • Provide technical input and training as required.
  • Provide technical information needed to maintain capital expenses budget.
  • Provides assistance in all phases of Budget and Standards preparation
  • Observe all safety and environmental procedures and good manufacturing practices
  • Proposes and implements changes in plant processes and equipment to increase efficiency and improve overall cost positions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as directed by the Molding Engineering Supervisor or Injection Molding Business Unit Manager.
  • Work Flexible Hours with Overtime being required at times.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. (if hired after 6/1/00) Internal transfers exempted
  • Certified RJG Master Molder 1 or higher

Experience and Knowledge

  • 8 years of Injection Molding Plastic Processing experience in a technical role
  • Requires a high degree of technical skill and experience in Injection Molding processing with a wide variety of polymers, high cavitation tools, and robotic automation. Critical skills needed are a working knowledge of injection molding equipment and the ability to recognize, define and correct equipment/ tooling deficiencies. This position also requires the ability to collaborate with various other support groups (i.e., Facilities, Tool Shop, etc) to implement equipment installation and improvements.
  • Knowledge of current technology and state of the art in a wide variety of disciplines with familiarity in electronic controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics, standards development and statistical engineering, OSHA and FDA validation requirements.
  • Knowledge of PLC Operations, Maintenance and Programming and the ability to read schematics or machining, tooling design, tooling assembly and the ability to read part drawings.
