What is a manager?

Managers and Senior Managers are leadership roles within an organization responsible for overseeing teams, projects, or departments. A Manager typically handles day-to-day operations, team performance, and project delivery, while a Senior Manager takes on broader responsibilities such as strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and higher-level decision-making. Senior Managers often supervise multiple teams or Managers and play a key role in shaping organizational policies and driving business goals. Both roles require strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, but Senior Managers generally have more experience and authority within the organizational hierarchy.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a manager or senior manager?

To thrive as a Manager or Senior Manager, you need strong leadership, strategic planning, and business acumen, often supported by a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or a related field. Excellent communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills make individuals stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for effectively leading teams, driving organizational goals, and ensuring operational efficiency.

What are some common challenges faced by managers and senior managers when leading cross-functional teams?

Ensuring clear objectives, managing conflicts, and balancing workloads across departments requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Consistent communication and relationship-building are key to fostering collaboration and achieving project goals. • Support and facilitate internal team resolution on material changes to agreements across both commercial and technical issues
  • Coordinate with Engineering to gather and maintain specifications, scopes of work, and standards to be followed for Clearway's wind projects
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and with external vendor and contractor partners
  • Support the project financing process by coordinating inputs from wind EPC contractors and cross-functional teams to address independent engineering (IE) questions
