Job description

Research Fellowships: The Consortium Research Fellows Program has multiple fellowships available with the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI). These fellowships are for graduate students enrolled in psychology and other related behavioral science programs.
Location: Fort Belvoir
Wage: The hourly wage ranges from $18.00 to $34.00 and is determined by the graduate student's academic standing and program of study. Graduate students interested in these fellowships will be expected to work up to but no more than 20-30 hours per week and have the option of working 40 hours per week during the summer.
Research Support: The student Research Fellow will support ARI's research program and will be assigned to one or more research topic areas. The student will engage in data collection, longitudinal research design, survey development, survey administration, quantitative and qualitative data analyses, conference preparation, and technical report writing.
Qualifications:
Graduate students with knowledge and interests in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
  • Knowledge of data management and data analysis techniques
  • Experience and skill performing literature review
  • Interest in personnel selection and assignment, talent management, or longitudinal research
  • Proficiency with time series analysis
  • Working knowledge of SPSS
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Good oral/written communication skills
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail

Candidates enrolled in an Industrial-Organizational (IO) Psychology program are particularly encouraged to apply. IO psychology graduate students will gain applied research experience with the following:
  • Working with very large data sets
  • Applying experience with psychometrics
  • Conducting time series analyses
  • Providing empirically-based solutions to military assessment and selection problems
