Job Description:

The Sports Performance Manager has leadership and programmatic responsibility for the Utah Valley Sports Performance Center (SPC). This role is accountable for the design, development, launch, and ongoing operation of sports performance in collaboration with best-practice standards and organizational priorities.
In addition to overseeing SPC operations once opened, this role leads program development, outreach efforts, and external partnerships. The Sports Performance Manager provides leadership across the full lifecycle of service development - including preoperational planning, implementation, and mature operations - and contributes to achieving excellence in safety, quality, experience, growth, access, equity, and stewardship in alignment with One Intermountain.
This role has expanded scope and complexity due to accountability for new program creation, enterprise facing relationships, and strategic growth initiatives.

Essential Functions

Program Development & Pre Operational Leadership

  • Leads the design and development of the sports performance program prior to the opening of the SPC, including defining service offerings, creating operational models and workflows, developing staffing structures, and identifying key performance metrics.
  • Develops and provides performance-based outreach services prior to SPC opening to establish program presence, demonstrate value, and support future service growth.
  • Collaborates with organizational stakeholders to ensure operational readiness, including development of policies, procedures, staffing plans, equipment needs, and go live execution.

Capital Project Liaison

  • Serves as the hospital liaison to the SPC capital project during planning and build out phases, ensuring alignment between programmatic requirements and facility design and build.

  • Represents Sports Performance operational needs in coordination with facilities, construction, and organizational leadership.

  • Capital project liaison responsibilities will conclude following SPC opening and transition to stable operations.

Operational Leadership

  • Oversees day to day operations of Performance arm of the SPC, ensuring safe, effective, and high quality service delivery.

  • Identifies staffing needs and oversees recruiting, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and caregiver engagement for Sports Performance caregivers.

  • Ensures compliance with professional licensure, credentialing, Intermountain policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Oversees documentation, billing processes, and operational reporting to ensure accuracy, compliance, and financial stewardship.

  • Ensures equipment reliability, safety inspections, maintenance, and calibration in accordance with manufacturer specifications and organizational standards.

Outreach & External Partnerships

  • Leads enterprise facing outreach strategy for sports performance services in collaboration with hospital and system leadership.

  • Serves as the primary liaison and relationship owner for external partnerships, including universities, professional sports organizations, community groups, and affiliated organizations.

  • Develops, manages, and sustains partnerships that support program growth, innovation, and community impact.

Strategic & Organizational Contribution

  • Participates in strategic planning, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives related to sports performance services.

  • Interprets and presents program and performance data to inform decision making and strategic direction.

  • Promotes consistent and effective communication among caregivers, leaders, and external partners.

  • Represents the SPC and Intermountain Health in external forums related to Sports Performance and athlete development.

Qualifications

  • Degree and education in Rehabilitation profession consistent with licensure requirements (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Audiology, Athletic Trainer, and Exercise Physiology).

  • Current and applicable rehabilitation license to practice in the state where you reside.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.

  • Three years of previous experience as a practicing professional.

  • Management experience, preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.

  • When doing patient care, lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
