Job description

Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Registered Nurse

Compensation: $55.00/hr plus $5.09 for Health and Wellness

Position Summary
The SCI RN provides specialized care for patients with spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions, supporting both acute stabilization and long-term rehabilitation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and ongoing monitoring
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and specialized treatments
  • Provide bowel/bladder care and wound management
  • Assist with mobility, ADLs, and rehabilitation goals
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care and discharge planning
  • Educate patients and families on long-term care needs
  • Document care in EHR

Work Environment

  • Acute SCI unit and long-term care settings
  • Focus on rehabilitation, complication prevention, and quality of life

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)
  • Active RN license (Ohio or compact state)
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS required for ICU/ED)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience
  • Strong English communication and documentation skills

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Completion of VA-required training (safety, HIPAA, EHR, etc.)
  • Compliance with credentialing and privileging standards
  • Ability to float between units as needed
