- Ensures, as part of a team, care for up to approximately 70 horses, with an average herd size between 40 and 50, to include feeding, exercising, etc.
- Responsible for plantation horse assignments to include exercising, schooling, grooming, bathing, special needs, etc.
- Provides exceptional customer service to Owners, guests, and internal partners.
- Exercises horses as needed.
- Conducts trail rides.
- Cleans stalls, barns, aisle ways, and performs general cleaning and maintenance of equestrian facilities.
- Evaluates horses to bring health issues to managements’ attention.
- Administers medications and provide treatments to horses as directed by the Equestrian Director or Supervisor.

- Assists with coordinating and executing equestrian activities, including trail rides, summer camp program, and educational clinics.

- Able to communicate clearly in the communication log and sign off on all treatments and medications provided to each individual horse.
- Takes clear and detailed notes from the farrier and veterinarian for each individual horse as needed.

Capable of working extended hours, including weekends and holidays as necessary.
Must have a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice to effectively communicate with individuals of varying levels of education and capabilities. Position involves sitting, standing, and movement throughout the day. Must be able to transport oneself not only to the office, but also throughout the plantation. Must be physically and intellectually capable of operating a personal computer, printer, and other routine business equipment. Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing up to 50 to 75 lbs. This movement may occur throughout the day.
Working environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings. Required to perform job duties in all types of weather conditions. Workday will be divided between well-lighted, temperature-controlled areas and exposure to outdoor elements.
Must be able to manage multiple assignments with interruptions, changes, and delays while meeting daily deadlines. Must remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and with a positive attitude under such conditions.
Must be able to work effectively and professionally in situations that may be stressful due to the nature of responsibilities.
Education: College degree is preferred; however, relevant hands-on experience is equally valued.
Knowledge: Prior knowledge of equestrian center programs is preferred. Computer skills, including familiarity with Excel and billing or reservation systems such as NorthStar, are beneficial.
Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, sound problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills required.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of competent riding experience with 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a stable or equestrian environment.
Personality: Must be able to effectively interact with a wide range of individuals, remain mentally alert, detail oriented, and demonstrate strong reasoning skills.
