Job Title: Electrical Engineer โ€“ EHS Focus
Employment Type: Direct Hire

Summary:

We are supporting a client specializing in high-quality enclosure and power solutions, seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and develop electrical systems for diesel and gas-fueled generators. This role combines hands-on electrical engineering with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) responsibilities, providing opportunities for professional growth, cross-functional collaboration, and long-term career development in a well-established, innovative organization.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and assist in testing electrical systems for diesel and/or gas-fueled generators, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, applicable codes, customer specifications, and cost constraints.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements to ensure design compliance.
  • Create and maintain design layouts and files using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Focus on power design of main AC systems (low voltage, <600V AC).
  • Evaluate and select electrical/electronic components for control systems.
  • Focus on control systems, including heating, filtration, and pumping applications.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and develop preventive measures to reduce workplace injuries and environmental risks.
  • Manage and maintain all environmental permits, records, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure design intent, quality standards, and EHS compliance are met during production.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Serve as a technical and safety resource during design, prototyping, and production.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical/engineering field (Masterโ€™s degree preferred).
  • 1โ€“5+ years of electrical engineering experience in power systems, generator design, or industrial equipment; EHS experience in manufacturing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical; experience with 3D modeling platforms a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of low-voltage AC power systems (<600V) and control systems design.
  • Understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other environmental/safety regulations; ability to implement safety programs.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and training skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and interact at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities in electrical systems design.
