Client Fee: 20% | Replacement Period: 90 Days

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of complex electrical engineering projects. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who enjoys solving challenging engineering problems rather than working from predefined templates.

The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from concept through construction, ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and fully compliant with industry codes and standards. Most projects involve renovations and upgrades in mission-critical environments, requiring strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

This role also includes project leadership, client interaction, and mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the electrical engineering design for both new construction and renovation projects.

Develop electrical systems including power distribution, lighting systems, and control systems.

Manage projects from concept through construction documentation and implementation.

Conduct site investigations, field surveys, and code compliance reviews.

Serve as Assistant Project Manager, overseeing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.

Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.

Develop and maintain strong client relationships and support repeat business opportunities.

Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and performance standards.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

10–20 years of experience in electrical engineering design.

Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Strong expertise in electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and controls.

Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, AGI32, SKM, or EasyPower.

Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.

Experience conducting field investigations and working in construction or renovation environments.

Ability to manage complex engineering challenges and deliver practical solutions.

U.S. Citizenship required due to government project access requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Medium Voltage (MV) distribution systems.

RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification.

Experience working on federal sector projects including familiarity with UFC, UFGS, or FAR requirements.

Existing professional relationships within North Carolina, South Carolina, Mid-Atlantic, or South-Central United States.

Experience working with higher education institutions or state construction systems such as the NC State Construction Office.

Why Join This Organization

This position offers the opportunity to work on technically complex and impactful engineering projects across federal, educational, and mission-critical sectors.

The organization provides the collaborative culture of a specialized engineering firm combined with strong career growth opportunities and direct exposure to leadership and decision-making.

Engineers in this role gain the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to projects that require creativity, innovation, and real-world problem solving.
