Job description

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.
ECI has an immediate opening for an electrical engineer to perform detailed electrical and instrumentation engineering for our industrial customers. This position primarily involves work focused on industrial electrical systems, including instrumentation, controls, communications, and low- and medium-voltage power systems in oil and gas, mining and manufacturing facilities. The work consists of performing design calculations, developing equipment specifications, providing purchasing assistance, field documentation of existing systems, direct interaction with the client for planning and reporting, the creation of detailed electrical design drawings and documents for construction and future maintenance, electrical studies for both new and existing systems, programming of protection relays, VFDs, and related equipment, and more. The successful candidate must be able to design industrial power, control and instrumentation systems; perform project engineering management functions such as scheduling, estimating, tracking and communications; perform electrical system studies; and occasional marketing efforts. Familiarity with relevant IEEE standards and NFPA codes (particularly NFPA 70) is expected.
Minimum Requirements: BSEE or MSEE from an ABET accredited university; P.E. license desirable; 6+ years of experience as an electrical engineer in an industrial setting ; electrical-system and arc-flash study experience; working knowledge of common electrical systems drawings and documentation such as electrical plans and elevations, conduit and cable schedules, one-line diagrams, MCC and switchgear layouts and details, electrical panel schedules, wiring diagrams, motor-control and other schematics, P&IDs, lighting plans, heat-trace diagrams, hazardous area classification plans, electrical equipment specification sheets, motor lists, etc. The successful candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office products and other common office software. Ability to mobilize throughout industrial facilities, including climbing stairs and ladders, negotiating narrow walkways, climbing over piping and other obstacles, walking long distances, and lifting up to 50 pounds required. The successful candidate may be subject to client mandated drug and background checking. Occasional out of town travel (typically less than 10% but could be more at times for specific project needs) may be requested. The successful candidate is subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements. Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa) now or in the future.
Salary commensurate with experience and education. Benefits include:
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Flexible spending account
  • Health savings account
  • Life insurance
  • Disability insurance
