Job description

What you get to do:
The Security Captain oversees daily security operations within Sesame Place, ensuring the safety of guests, employees, vendors, and company assets. This role supervises security leadership and officers, coordinates emergency response, enforces park policies, and maintains a visible leadership presence throughout the property.
  • Lead and supervise Security Officers and dispatch personnel during daily park operations and non-operating hours

  • Provide a level of consistent supervisory coverage in rotation with the leadership team.

  • Develop and implement all security training programs.

  • Oversee the development, performance management, and ongoing training of the Security Team while ensuring compliance with departmental safety initiatives and standards.

  • Respond to and manage incidents involving guest disturbances, medical emergencies, fire alarms, accidents, weather events, and security threats

  • Support fire prevention initiatives, life safety inspections, and emergency preparedness programs

  • Conduct investigations involving theft, vandalism, guest complaints, or policy violations with the ability to document and disseminate critical information in a timely manner.

  • Oversee incident documentation, investigations, and report accuracy

  • Develop and maintain partnership and communication with all levels of outside law enforcement to include- local, federal, state law enforcement, judicial system and other security departments within the organization.

  • Consistently practices safe work habits including but not limited to use of personal protective equipment, lifting, driving, and reporting of unsafe situations.

  • Promote a guest-focused culture by balancing strong security practices with exceptional customer service

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What it takes to succeed:
    • Three (3) years supervisory/management experience in Security, Law Enforcement, Military or related field.
    • Experience in Loss Prevention, training, investigative procedures and court system preferred.

    • Valid State Driver's License with driving record that meets requirements of the organizations driving policy.

    • Must have or become CPR/AED and First Aid certified; State license(s) and applicable certification(s) required.

    • Must complete OC Spray and Handcuff training and obtain a certification through a class provided by the park.

    • Possess ability to define problems, collect accurate data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.

    • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.

    • Must have comprehensive knowledge of applicable local, state and federal ordinances as it applies to security and law enforcement.

    • Must have experience in conducting training on security policies and procedures; general understanding of common safety requirement.

    • Must be able to work rotating shifts, including days, mids, nights, and overnight schedules, as well as weekends and holidays.

    • Must possess basic computer skills

    • Must not have received discipline during the previous 12 months resulting in suspension or final counseling
