Job description

We are a fast-paced, growing heart and vascular clinic seeking a Medical Scribe. This position will involve providing detailed documentation services to physicians and healthcare teams in a fast-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills. They should also have a strong knowledge of medical terminology and terminology associated with medical record-keeping. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and be part of a team that is passionate about providing quality care to our patients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Listen to and document patient encounters in the patient's electronic medical record
  • Accurately document patient information such as history, physical examinations, medications, treatments, and other notes
  • Enter patient orders into the electronic medical record
  • Accurately transcribe physician dictation
  • Obtain and document patient signatures on consent forms
  • Assist physicians with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments or ordering tests
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare team members in providing efficient, high-quality patient care
  • Cross-check medical records for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure that all patient information is up-to-date, accurate, and secure
  • Assist with patient registration and check-in as needed
  • Manage and organize medical records in an efficient manner
  • Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure patient safety and satisfaction

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a medical office or medical field
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes
  • Ability to accurately document patient information in electronic medical record systems
  • Proficient in the use of computers and related software
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately
  • Ability to work Monday- Friday 8-430pm – sometimes it may be a little later for rural travel. 
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be able  to type a minimum of 40wpm 
  • EMR experience

Work Environment

This position is a clinical position and will report to the office Monday- Friday from 6:30 am – 5:00 PM. 

 

Physical Requirements

This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
