What Impact You'll Have
We are seeking an Aeronautical Production Specialist to support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's (NGA) Airfield Foundation Data (AFD) program. In this role, you will contribute to the creation and maintenance of foundational airfield intelligence by extracting, analyzing, validating, and producing geospatial data in accordance with NGA standards and specifications. Your work will directly support mission-critical aviation, intelligence, and operational planning requirements by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of airfield feature data.
What You'll be Owning
  • Extract, analyze, and maintain Airfield Foundation Data (AFD) features from imagery and other geospatial sources in accordance with NGA product specifications.
  • Identify, collect, validate, and update airfield features including runways, taxiways, navigational aids, air traffic control towers, hangars, and other aviation-related infrastructure.
  • Perform data acquisition, evaluation, analysis, entry, application, and maintenance activities within NGA-defined collection areas.
  • Conduct mensuration activities to support accurate feature extraction and geospatial positioning.
  • Execute quality control and quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with established NGA standards and accuracy requirements.
  • Support product finishing activities and assist with database updates as required.
  • Create, maintain, and update technical documentation supporting production processes and mission requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to resolve data discrepancies and improve production workflows.
  • Ensure production milestones and deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.

What You Must Have
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Candidates must either possess an active CI Polygraph at the time of hire or be willing and eligible to obtain and maintain one.
  • 1-3 years of experience performing geospatial feature collection, feature validation, and finishing activities involving points, lines, and polygons.
  • Basic knowledge of airfield infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, navigational aids, air traffic control towers, hangars, and related aviation features.
  • Experience performing imagery analysis and mensuration activities.
  • Ability to understand, update, and develop technical documentation supporting production requirements and mission objectives.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

What Would be Nice to Have
  • Understanding of geospatial principles including horizontal and vertical coordinate systems, elevation models, and positional accuracy standards.
  • Knowledge of imagery sources, geospatial products, collection processes, and sensor capabilities.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and writing XML.
  • Familiarity with NGA production workflows, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Experience using GIS, imagery exploitation, or geospatial production tools.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Intelligence, GIS, Remote Sensing, Aviation, or a related field.
