Job description

RK&K is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to enhance our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) operations for TxDOT and municipal transportation projects. This role focuses on supporting project delivery through effective contract administration, inspection oversight, compliance monitoring, and coordination with various stakeholders.
Essential Functions
  • Promote an ethical work environment.
  • Foster communication with personnel, clients, contractors, and the public.
  • Manage all aspects of contract administration from preconstruction to project close-out.
  • Facilitate and/or attend meetings related to contract management.
  • Oversee the quality assurance program, including inspections and compliance.
  • Conduct advanced construction inspections as necessary.
  • Track contractor progress and resolve on-site issues.
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents and regulations.
  • Support project schedules, contractor submissions, change orders, and close-out activities.
  • Assess inspection needs and supervise daily personnel activities.
  • Conduct constructability reviews for roadways and bridges.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and retaining CEI staff.
  • Report daily to project sites or RK&K office as required.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience managing inspection teams for heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of the project lifecycle from preconstruction to closeout.
  • Extensive experience with roadways, bridges, structures, traffic control, and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain Precertification Categories 11.3.1, 11.4.1, 12.1.4, 12.1.5, and 12.1.7.
  • Certifications in OSHA, ACI, HMA Level 1B and other applicable TxDOT training.
  • Experience with Design Bid Build and Alternative Delivery methods.
  • CCM certification through CMAA is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AASHTOWare, SiteManager, and ProjectWise.
  • Acceptable driving record and ability to pass a Criminal History Background Check.

Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
