Civil/Structural Engineering Manager – Substation DesignAbout Echo Power

What You’ll Get to Do

Echo Power has an opportunity for a Civil/Structural Engineering Manger to support substation design projects. In this role, you will manage Echo’s civil and structural engineering efforts for high-voltage substations while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects from concept through construction. This is a hybrid role with remote work and field/site visits as needed (up to 20% travel).

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage personnel in the civil/structural engineering group
• Manage process, procedures, personnel development for the civil/structural engineering group
• Lead planning, design, and execution of substation projects
• Develop civil/structural designs including site development, foundations, and structural steel
• Prepare plans, sections, details, and bills of material
• Perform engineering calculations and develop technical specifications
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, structural teams, and project managers
• Conduct design reviews and perform quality checks on team deliverables
• Support project schedules, budgets, and overall execution
• Perform site visits, walkdowns, and construction support activities

What You Bring
• Strong experience in civil/structural design for substations or heavy industrial projects
• Knowledge of structural steel, concrete, masonry, and foundation design
• Understanding of surveying techniques (LiDAR, photogrammetry, GPS)
• Familiarity with codes, standards, and construction practices
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to travel up to 20%

Technical Tools:
AutoCAD, MicroStation, RISA, STAAD (or equivalent), Bluebeam, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Project/Primavera (CMiC a plus)


Education amp; Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited)
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in utilities, power generation, or industrial environments
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license required

Job Location

Remote-first role with field travel as needed. Candidates should live within one hour of a commercial airport.
