Job description

The Grant & Contract Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all contracts and grants across assigned departments comply with applicable regulations, organizational policies, and funding requirements. This role oversees the entire grant/contract lifecycle, ensuring accurate reporting, adherence to requirements, and alignment with both organizational and external standards. The manager will collaborate closely with various teams, including program leadership, human resources, IT, and finance, to maintain comprehensive compliance. Depending on the specific assignment, this role may also include supervisory responsibilities. 

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday – Friday

WORK DESIGNATION: 

  • Remote (must live and work within the San Diego County Region)

  • Develop and implement compliance-related policies and procedures as needed  
  • Oversee contract compliance for private, state, county, and federal contracts  
  • Advise on and interpret contract requirements, obligations, and risks  
  • Ensure the implementation of funder-specific terms, conditions, and general regulatory requirements  
  • Lead decision-making on contract compliance and conduct internal program audits to enhance practices 
  • Oversee compliance activities, including required contractual compliance trainings, and develop content tailored to specific needs and regulations where applicable  
  • Manage contract and subcontract/subrecipient activities, including amendments, renewals, and alignment with grant objectives  
  • Coordinate audit requests and communications with funders and external auditors, ensuring timely submission of all reports and certifications  
  • Provide quality assurance consultation and support to programs, ensuring alignment with regulations and best practices  
  • Supervise and provide guidance to team members to ensure compliance and effective contract management; Participate in or lead the recruitment, hiring, and training of team members on relevant compliance standards, contract requirements, regulatory guidelines, and internal policies/procedures, as applicable to the specific assignment 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field or four (4) years of equivalent experience required, AND  
  • Minimum eight (8) years of combined experience, including:  
    • Contract oversight and management  
    • Application of knowledge in relevant contract regulations, funding & reporting requirements, compliance audits, contract performance & risks, and regulatory authorities based on assignment

  • Skilled in reading, interpreting, and analyzing contract terms to develop and implement robust compliance systems 
  • Maintains a proactive approach to managing tasks and addressing issues  
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills and effective coordination with various stakeholders
