Job description

Are you passionate about building managed database services that power the next generation of IoT, observability, and real-time analytics workloads. Do you want to define product strategy for a service growing 200%+ year-over-year, serving customers from Goldman Sachs to Blue Origin. If so, the role of Senior Product Manager - Technical on the Amazon Timestream for InfluxDB team may be your next opportunity.
Amazon Timestream for InfluxDB is a fully managed time-series database service that runs InfluxDB on AWS

The service enables customers to ingest, store, and analyze billions of time-series data points-from IoT telemetry and infrastructure metrics to financial market data-without managing database infrastructure. We recently launched InfluxDB 3, a ground-up architectural rewrite leveraging Apache Arrow, DataFusion, and Parquet on S3 that delivers 10x+ query performance and virtually unlimited storage for high-cardinality analytics workloads. With thousands of instances deployed across 19+ regions, customers in aerospace, financial services, industrial manufacturing, and SaaS are building on the service today.
We are looking for a Senior PMT who will own the product strategy, roadmap, and customer experience for Timestream for InfluxDB

You will define what we build, why we build it, and how we bring it to market.
*Utility Computing (UC)*
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations - from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
Your primary responsibility as a Senior Product Manager - Technical is to accelerate the product development and business growth of Amazon Timestream for InfluxDB. You will own the product roadmap end-to-end, making prioritization decisions across InfluxDB 2, InfluxDB 3 (Core and Enterprise), and migration tooling that directly impact thousands of customers running time-series workloads in production.
You will drive product strategy across the full spectrum of time-series use cases - IoT, observability, financial analytics, and industrial telemetry - shaping how customers ingest, query, and act on data from real-time OLTP to long-term analytical storage

This means deeply understanding customer problems, authoring PR/FAQs and business requirements documents to define new capabilities, and working with engineering to turn those documents into shipped features. You will own areas including scaling, security, storage engine evolution, pricing, and ecosystem integrations.
A critical part of this role is leading customer discovery. You will engage directly with enterprise customers, ISVs, startups, and internal AWS teams to understand their challenges and translate that feedback into product direction

You will partner closely with InfluxData engineering to influence the open-source engine roadmap and ensure enterprise features land for AWS customers.
Beyond building the right product, you will define how we bring it to market. You will collaborate with marketing, solutions architecture, and the AWS database specialist sales team to drive adoption. You will analyze usage patterns, metering data, and the competitive landscape to identify growth levers and inform pricing strategy

You will work across the AWS databases organization - alongside Aurora, DynamoDB, Neptune, and OpenSearch - to ensure clear positioning and joint customer solutions.
This role is visible at the highest levels of the company. You will present product vision and roadmap to VP and SVP leadership, represent the service to customers, and speak at AWS events including re:Invent and Summits.

A day in the life
Given the scope and high level of ownership that product managers have on the Timestream team, rarely are two days the same. You are a business owner, customer-facing representative for the service, and point of contact for partner teams across AWS

On a weekly basis, you will be working with customers to understand how they ingest, query, and act on time-series data at scale; analyzing service metrics and revenue growth trends; writing PR/FAQs, pricing narratives, and naming documents for new capabilities; iterating on product decisions with the engineering team; working with partners in marketing, sales, solutions architecture, legal, support, documentation, and InfluxData; thinking big to envision what the future of managed time-series looks like on AWS; and exhibiting learn and be curious for emerging technologies in IoT, observability, real-time analytics, and AI/ML on time-series data.
On a daily basis, you'll have a chance to work with everyone who makes products at AWS successful, including senior leadership, engineers, business and sales experts, marketing, developer advocates, data scientists, content writers, and more. You will meet with customers - from startups building their first IoT pipeline to enterprises running thousands of instances - to understand our core strengths and weaknesses. You will synthesize that feedback and industry knowledge with business and service data to create strategies and test hypotheses

As someone central to the success of Timestream for InfluxDB, people will look to you on a regular basis to solve problems and connect them with specialists. To develop that expertise, you'll constantly be looking to learn by reaching out to other experts within the company and the larger time-series and database community, using your own product by building sample workloads, running benchmarks, testing new features end-to-end, and through mentorship. Our customers are developers, data engineers, and technical decision makers, so you will be using code, InfluxDB query languages, technical documentation, and architecture diagrams to understand problems and communicate solutions.
About the team
The Timestream product team is a diverse group of product managers, engineers, managers, and builders with backgrounds spanning product, engineering, solutions architecture, and consulting

You will have mentorship from individuals with 10+ years of industry experience, peers to collaborate with, and peers to mentor. We seek diverse opinions to best serve our customers, and we work to create a safe place to try new ideas and recognize those that contribute to others' success. The team operates in close partnership with InfluxData and serves a customer base ranging from pre-revenue startups to Fortune 100 enterprises.
