Job Description

One of the best-known names in cruising, Princess is the world's leading international premium cruise line and tour company, carrying millions of guests each year to hundreds of destinations around the globe. We give our guests the Medallion Class experience others simply can’t. The Love Boat promises something for everyone.

The Quality Engineering (QE) Manager leads the software quality organization responsible for web, mobile (React Native), and API test automation across digital products. This role defines the quality engineering vision, shifts testing left, integrates robust automated test suites into GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and manages test environments and quality engineers to ensure fast, defect-free production deployments.

Here’s a summary of what Princess is looking for in a Quality Engineering Manager. Is this you?

Responsibilities:

  • QE Strategy & Automation Leadership: Formulate and implement comprehensive test automation strategies covering Web UI, React Native mobile apps (iOS & Android), and backend GraphQL/.NET APIs.
  • CI/CD & Tooling Integration: Oversee the expansion of automated test frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Detox, Appium, Maestro) into GitLab CI/CD pipelines to achieve automated regression testing and rapid delivery velocity.
  • Team & Resource Management: Direct internal quality engineers and offshore testing partners. Drive skill development, test data management, device cloud infrastructure (BrowserStack/Sauce Labs), and performance/load testing capabilities.
  • Quality Metrics & Release Governance: Establish quality metrics (defect density, automation coverage, test execution speed) and enforce release quality gates in partnership with Product, Engineering, and DevOps leads.
  • Administrative: Perform all other administrative and organizational duties as required (time keeping, training, travel, collaboration and correspondence, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Scope: Direct leadership of Quality Engineers (automation and manual). Quality oversight for web platforms, mobile apps, and supporting API services across digital release cycles. Oversees end-to-end quality assurance across ecommerce platforms, including web, mobile, APIs, and backend systems. Defines testing strategies for new features, integrations, and releases across multiple teams and geographies. Ensures quality across customer journeys, payment systems, inventory, and third‑party integrations..
  • Problem solving: Identifies root causes of defects through data analysis, logs, and cross‑functional collaboration. Resolves bottlenecks in test automation pipelines and CI/CD workflows. Develops scalable solutions for flaky tests, environment instability, and regression failures.
  • Impact: Directly impacts application reliability, guest experience, software release velocity, and brand reputation by preventing production defects and performance regressions. Improves release velocity and reduces post‑release defects by implementing robust test automation. Enhances customer experience by ensuring seamless checkout, search, and personalization features. Drives measurable improvements in test coverage, defect leakage, and QA cycle time.
  • Leadership: Requires strong QA leadership, process transformation capabilities, collaborative communication, and team management skills. Manages and mentors QA engineers across manual and automated testing domains. Champions quality culture across engineering, product, and business teams. Leads test strategy reviews, defect triage meetings, and sprint planning sessions.

Essential/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Quality Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years in Software Quality Engineering and Test Automation.
  • 5+ years of direct experience managing quality engineering teams supporting web and mobile applications.

Essential experience required:

  • Experience testing ecommerce systems, including checkout, payments, and product catalogs.
  • Proven track record building end-to-end test automation solutions for React Native mobile apps and modern web platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience embedding automated test execution within GitLab CI/CD release pipelines.
  • Demonstrated success managing onshore and offshore quality engineering resources.
  • Strong command of test automation frameworks (e.g., Microsoft Playwright, BRwoserstack low code, Xray)
