Job Summary:
Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for an Application Systems Analyst - Junior Developer. The Analyst is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing information systems, performing encoding, testing, debugging, and installation activities, while also assisting in building and maintaining user interfaces and supporting application workflows.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with reviewing and updating existing Envision source code, focusing on low-risk modifications and testing.
• Participate in trainings or code walkthroughs to understand how Colleague modules are customized and maintained.
• Shadow the Senior System Engineer in performing patch testing, user account provisioning, and password reset workflows.
• Serve as a backup for routine ERP administration tasks in their absence, including basic troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination with support teams.
• Contribute to internal process documentation related to Colleague operations and user support workflows.
• Maintains familiarity with new technology standards and how each may be applied to the future growth and development of the services provided by the Ellucian Colleague database system.
• Provide secondary support for Password Resets, Account Creation, and Colleague Security.
• IT lead on various projects pertaining to the ERP system.
• Integrates 3rd party software with the student ERP systems.
• Evaluates, installs, tests, configures, maintains, tunes, and troubleshoots application programming within the Colleague ERP.
• Follow established procedures for process customizations and development, including documenting and obtaining user approval on modifications and/or process results.
• Consults with users to identify and analyze computer support needs. Develops and recommends specifications for new applications and proposed changes to existing applications on the administrative systems. Assists Database/Research Analyst with writing technical and user documentation pertaining to the administrative systems.
• Assist with front-end web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.js
• Contribute to the design, usability, and responsiveness of college applications
• Test and debug code to ensure functionality and accessibility
• Help integrate APIs for displaying data from other systems
• Track issues and progress using GitLab, or similar tools
• Provide user-facing documentation and helpdesk-level application support
• Shadow a senior developer on ERP integration tasks and application enhancements
• Attend development meetings and take part in project planning sessions
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups. Conducts training on accessing/utilizing computer resources and applications.
• Analyzes and modifies programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging, and installing to support an organization's application systems. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives. Writes manuals for users to describe installation and operating procedures. May write documentation to explain program development, logic, coding, and corrections. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. This is an intermediate position but gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
• Codes, tests, debugs, and documents moderately complex programs in several programming languages. Develops program flow. Possesses knowledge of appropriate computer languages, computer logic, and specifications and parameters for storing data. Performs work under general supervision and direction.
• Reviews, analyzes, and modifies the programming systems, including encoding, testing, and debugging, to support an organization's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications. Ensures that software can be completely integrated into the ERP system. Designs and develops application tables, reports, and new modules to improve system efficiency. Develops and maintains technical documentation. Works with ERP/SAP client/server enterprise application. Typically reports to a manager. Contributes to complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in information technology and/or institutional research.
• Foundational understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for basic UI development.
• Familiarity with React.js or similar JavaScript frameworks.
• Basic knowledge of RESTful APIs and how to use them for dynamic content.
• Experience using Git or other version control systems.
• Exposure to SQL and writing basic queries.
• Familiar with MS SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019 Database Systems.
• Installation of user workstation drivers and applications as needed.
• Database and application development methodologies.
• Essential programming technologies, including the use of PowerShell.
• Knowledge of and experience with large ERP databases.
• Demonstrated ability to use complex analytic judgment and ingenuity to plan and perform difficult work where only general methods may be available.
• Demonstrated ability to create new processes and procedures where existing methods do not exist.
