Job description

Job Summary

The Superintendent, Contract Oversight Maintenance of Equipment oversees contractor operations related to railway maintenance of equipment and ensures compliance with operational standards, contractual requirements, and industry best practices. This role monitors maintenance activities, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, manages contract performance, supports capital planning, and ensures the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient rail transportation services.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate contractor operating policies and procedures using industry best practices.
  • Review daily operational reports and ensure incidents, accidents, and unusual events are properly documented.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and internal departments regarding operational matters.
  • Review maintenance and engineering plans to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Oversee maintenance of rail equipment, including inspections, preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and overhaul activities.
  • Support planning and implementation of system-wide maintenance improvements.
  • Monitor Capital Asset Replacement Programs and assist with capital budget planning and variance analysis.
  • Provide operational oversight to ensure safe, clean, and reliable transportation services.
  • Supervise vendors and contractor-related maintenance activities.
  • Serve as backup for senior operations leadership when required.
  • Support maintenance operations across multiple rail systems as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Transportation, Industrial Management, Business Administration, or a related field (experience may substitute for education where applicable).
  • Seven years of experience in light rail vehicle maintenance.
  • Progressive experience managing railway maintenance of equipment (MOE) programs.
  • Experience with contract management and contractor oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of railway maintenance operations and equipment.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
