Job description

Join the team that keeps aircraft flying smart and safe.

At LMS we don't just design aerospace fuel management systems, we engineer precision, reliability, and innovation into every drop. As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll help us fuel system components for some of the world's leading aerospace programs. We're looking for an experienced problem-solver who thrives on complexity, collaboration, and creativity, someone who can see a drawing not just as lines on a page, but as the blueprint for flight success.

Job Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the design and creation of detailed drawings for aerospace fuel system components and assemblies, and serves as a technical leader for multidisciplinary teams, guiding the design, release, and qualification of aerospace fuel system components with minimal oversight.

What You'll Do:

Design & Development

  • Design, analyze, and refine mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace fuel systems while meeting customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create detailed drawings, models, and engineering documentation for complex systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with electrical, quality, and manufacturing engineers to transition designs from concept to production.
  • Provide design authority feedback to support manufacturing and resolve technical challenges.

Testing & Qualification

  • Prepare, coordinate, and execute external qualification testing (e.g., DO-160).
  • Analyze test results, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Customer & Supplier Engagement

  • Engage directly with customers, suppliers, and test facilities to ensure product performance and alignment with expectations.

Continuous Improvement & Leadership

  • Contribute to process improvements and new product development initiatives.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to team members as needed.
  • Manage tasks proactively and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering & 3 + years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree in engineering & 6 + years of relevant design experience.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks preferred, other modeling programs considered.
  • Knowledge and application of GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5).
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret complex technical documentation.
  • Experience developing prototypes using best practices and new technology.
  • Ability to travel independently up to a few times a year.

Above and Beyond:

  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industries.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and assembly of electromechanical systems.
  • Experience using machining equipment.
  • DO 160G experience.
  • Knowledge of design, analysis, and fabrication of composites.

Competencies:

Excellence: Ensures advanced designs meet aerospace standards and exceed customer expectations.

Integrity: Maintains compliance with company and industry regulations in all engineering efforts.

Teamwork: Provides technical leadership and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.

Innovation: Develops and implements creative engineering solutions to enhance products and processes.

Engagement: Leads engineering projects with dedication and ensures alignment with organizational objectives.

Why Join LMS?

At LMS, we power aerospace innovation through precision fuel measurement systems. You'll work in a dynamic, supportive environment where your skills and contributions make a real impact-on the floor and in the sky.
