Job description

Location: This position can work hybrid from our office in Pleasanton, CA, or Denver, CO.
Travel: Up to 5%
Job ID:
1782

The Role:

We are looking for a Staff Product Marketing Manager, Quantum Sensing to lead go-to-market strategy for one of the most technically sophisticated product areas within IonQ Quantum Platform. Reporting to the Head of Product Marketing, Quantum Platform, this role will shape how IonQ's quantum sensing portfolio is understood in-market - translating advanced sensing, timing, navigation, and PNT capabilities into differentiated positioning, launch strategies, impactful revenue-driving narratives, and sales motions that accelerate market adoption, support pipeline growth, and strengthen IonQ's position in emerging quantum markets.

This role operates at the intersection of product, engineering, sales, marketing, and leadership. You will help connect product strategy to market strategy, ensuring launches and messaging reflect a clear, credible, technically accurate, and commercially relevant narrative. You will lead positioning, messaging, go-to-market strategy, launches, and cross-functional alignment across Quantum Sensing, ensuring IonQ's sensing portfolio is differentiated, understood by the right buyers, and positioned to drive adoption across government, defense, aerospace, critical infrastructure, and advanced technology markets.

You will serve as a strategic market partner to product and engineering leadership - helping connect technical development decisions to customer needs, competitive dynamics, buyer behavior, and market opportunity. This includes influencing launch priorities, roadmap communication, and product strategy through customer insight, competitive intelligence, and market feedback.

Responsibilities:

  • Own, define, and evolve the narrative, positioning, and messaging for Quantum Sensing products across customer segments and buyer personas - translating highly technical capabilities into customer-ready language that resonates with government, defense, aerospace, national security, critical infrastructure, and technically sophisticated commercial audiences.
  • Lead go-to-market strategy and launch execution across Quantum Sensing products, tailoring positioning, messaging, and customer engagement to distinct buyers, use cases, technical maturity levels, and competitive environments.
  • Partner closely with product management, engineering, and technical leadership to influence launch prioritization and roadmap communication based on customer insight, competitive dynamics, mission relevance, and market opportunity.
  • Develop and maintain customer-facing and internal content, including messaging frameworks, thought leadership, web copy, sales enablement assets, technical narratives, case studies, solution briefs, and launch materials.
  • Own and continuously evolve Quantum Sensing AI-enabled go-to-market systems, including domain-specific agents, knowledge repositories, competitive intelligence, technical terminology, product information, and customer-use-case libraries to power scalable content creation, sales enablement, and market intelligence.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across product, engineering, sales, corporate marketing, communications, and enablement to ensure launches reinforce product authority, platform coherence, and market differentiation at every touchpoint.
  • Own competitive and market intelligence, tracking competitors, market shifts, government priorities, technology readiness signals, funding patterns, and emerging category dynamics while translating insights into actionable recommendations for GTM team members.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer within the organization, ensuring customer needs, mission requirements, buying behavior, market feedback, and competitive realities consistently influence GTM strategy, positioning, launch planning, and product decisions.
  • Partner with sales enablement to support battle cards, objection handling, training materials, demo narratives, technical talk tracks, and strategic deal support for complex government, defense, aerospace, and enterprise opportunities.
  • Support the development of scalable product marketing processes, frameworks, and operational infrastructure as the Quantum Platform organization grows.

Requirements:

  • 5-10+ years of experience in B2G product marketing within highly technical industries such as quantum technology, aerospace, defense, national security, positioning/navigation/timing, sensing, autonomy, deep tech, scientific instrumentation, or adjacent markets where buyers are sophisticated and sales cycles are complex.
  • Proven ownership of GTM strategy and launch execution. You have built launch plans, aligned stakeholders, driven positioning, and taken technical products to market - not just supported execution.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly understand advanced sensing, timing, navigation, PNT, quantum hardware, or related deep-tech concepts. You do not need to be a physicist, but you must be comfortable working closely with physicists, engineers, product leaders, and technical customers.
  • Working knowledge of quantum sensing, PNT, atomic clocks, inertial sensing, precision timing, resilient navigation, or adjacent defense/aerospace technology areas is strongly preferred.
  • Experience marketing products or technologies to government, defense, aerospace, national security, research, or critical infrastructure audiences is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional writing and content development skills. You can translate highly technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives and create polished content across launches, thought leadership, web copy, customer-facing assets, technical explainers, and sales enablement materials for technical and executive audiences.
  • Confident presenter and communicator across internal and external audiences - including customers, partners, executives, product leaders, engineers, and technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders across product, engineering, sales, marketing, and leadership organizations.
  • Strong commercial instincts and strategic thinking. You can synthesize complex technical input into commercially effective positioning and understand how messaging, positioning, launches, and market insights connect to business outcomes.
  • Experience working in nascent, emerging, or rapidly evolving markets where category definitions, buyer understanding, and competitive dynamics are still developing.
  • Experience building, maintaining, or operationalizing AI-enabled workflows, knowledge systems, agents, or automation frameworks. Ability to structure product, customer, technical, and market information in ways that improve output quality, consistency, and business value.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple strategic and executional work streams simultaneously.
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy in fast-moving, ambiguous, and technically complex environments.
  • Energized by highly technical products, evolving markets, and the opportunity to help shape how new categories are understood and brought to market.
