Job description

The Quantum Software Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing multi-disciplinary scientific and engineering teams, to deliver excellence in R&D outcomes and is a key contributor to bringing Infleqtion's technology to market. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing a portfolio of projects into a cohesive program including managing purchases, subcontracts, cost, schedule, status, staffing, reporting, risks, and overall communication cadence. Additionally, the PM will represent the company and project's interests to external stakeholders, setting examples for the company's performance, and identifying opportunities for expanding the company's influence.

Job Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

  • Manage a portfolio of complex projects into a cohesive program including managing purchases, subcontracts, cost, schedule, status, staffing, reporting, risks, and overall communication cadence; prepare schedules and budgets in collaboration with technical leads, principal investigators and key stakeholders across project teams
  • Identify dependencies between software projects in portfolio
  • Assess and manage subcontractor performance
  • Coordinate resources across Infleqtion's quantum computing projects and portfolios, and indirectly manage, influence, and drive project team members to ensure on-time delivery of tasks, objectives, milestones, and key deliverables
  • Support proposal development and contract updates by working with contracts, legal, and proposal teams to develop technical volumes, work plans, statements of work (SOWs), project management plans, communication plans, quality assurance plans, risk management plans, and budgeting inputs
  • Prepare and closely monitor scope of work to maintain customer satisfaction and carefully manage change within contract boundaries
  • Engage with technical leaders and personnel to ensure that the technical objectives are appropriately planned and resourced
  • Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation plans and strategies to ensure on-time release and delivery of project deliverables
  • Contribute to company-wide business forecasts as well as technology and product roadmaps
  • Facilitate project success by managing cost, schedule, deliverables, and tracking milestone progress
  • Establish and communicate project schedules that define critical path amongst cross-functional deliverables
  • Bachelor's degree is required, with a focus in science, engineering, physics, or other related fields preferred; Masters, PhD, or advanced certification a plus
  • 2+ years of project and/or program management experience involving the design, development, or transition of sensing, communications, computing, or networking solutions, systems, or products
  • 1+ years of direct and hands-on experience supporting US government-funded projects is required
  • Direct and hands-on experience with complex and highly technical computational or software projects is required; experience with hardware development (electronics, optics, photonics, or structural/mechanical) is a bonus
  • Significant experience handling and creating advanced-level schedules, budgets, and tracking with MS Project and Excel (or other similar software) required
  • Experience with risk management required
  • Experience working with software development projects is required, with experience in quantum technology development a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to sufficiently learn the technical details of quantum software development to be able to coordinate resources across projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with all levels of an organization; professional-level communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively share information with technical and non-technical staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, team-oriented, and matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and skills that motivate team members to drive projects to success
  • Passion for solving hard problems and challenges in a highly technical and scientific environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and (potentially) internationally up to 10%
  • Salary range: $165,000 to $185,000 per year
