On-Site Role: Maitland, FL
Project Controls Specialist - Scheduler
About the Role
Our client, a nationally recognized, 100% employee-owned engineering and construction firm, is seeking a Mid-Level Project Controls Specialist to support planning, scheduling, and project controls efforts on large-scale utility and EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects. This individual will partner with Project Managers and Project Controls teams to develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules while supporting cost management, forecasting, and reporting. The ideal candidate has 4-6 years of experience in the utility or EPC industry with 3-5 years of hands-on Primavera P6 scheduling experience.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules using Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Create and maintain Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 project schedules.
  • Monitor schedule performance, critical path activities, resource loading, and project progress.
  • Establish and maintain schedule logic ties, constraints, and baseline schedules.
  • Analyze schedule impacts, identify potential risks, and provide recommendations to project teams.
  • Prepare and present schedule status reports to project management and clients.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal and external cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project forecasts.
  • Support earned value management (EVM), cost management, and schedule performance reporting.
  • Support engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) planning, scheduling, logistics, and cost control.
  • Analyze project controls reports and provide recommendations to the project controls team.
  • Ensure accurate project setup and maintenance within EcoSys and SAP.
  • Set up and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for tracking purchase orders, subcontracts, budgets, and project progress.
  • Monitor budgets against purchase orders and subcontract commitments.
  • Manage the internal Change Management process and review upstream and downstream change orders.
  • Develop and present cash flow reports and earned value tracking documentation.
  • Analyze project data using Oracle Primavera P6, SAP, SQL, and reporting tools.
  • Develop standard scheduling and project controls reports for project teams and leadership.
  • Support preconstruction and estimating activities when needed.
  • Perform quality checks on project controls deliverables to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Serve as a technical resource for Assistant Project Managers, Project Managers, Engineers, and Construction teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • 4-6 years of project controls experience within the utility, power delivery, or EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) industry.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules using Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Critical Path Method (CPM)
    • Schedule development and maintenance
    • Resource loading
    • Baseline schedule management
    • Schedule logic and progress updates
    • Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Experience supporting engineering and construction projects through planning, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Experience with SAP, EcoSys, and Microsoft Power BI preferred.
  • Experience querying and analyzing data using SQL is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present project updates to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Willingness to travel or accept long-term field assignments as needed.
  • Ability to obtain an OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification, if required.

We're looking for a mid-level Project Controls professional who has built and managed schedules in Primavera P6 on utility, transmission & distribution, power, or EPC projects. This person should be comfortable owning project schedules, collaborating with engineering and construction teams, identifying schedule risks, and supporting project delivery through accurate planning and reporting. While cost controls experience is valuable, hands-on P6 scheduling is the primary focus of this role.
