We are seeking an Advisor, Project Accounting to support the accounting, governance, and financial reporting of capital projects. This role ensures compliance with US GAAP, SOX controls, and internal policies while safeguarding capital assets and supporting accurate financial and regulatory reporting. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders, you will provide accounting expertise, oversight, and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform monthly project accounting activities, including project cost sign-off administration, processing project accruals, preparing and processing reclassification entries, and completing account reconciliations.

  • Review, process, and approve Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) submissions; set up/baseline new AFEs and AFE revisions, ensuring appropriate Delegation of Authority (DOA) approvals and funding support are in place.

  • Monitor project AFEs, In-Service Dates (ISDs), capital classifications, and project closures to ensure timely capitalization and unitization.

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Capitalization Policy, Distributable Cash Flow (DCF) Capital Classifications, and requirements related to Intangibles and Contributions In Aid of Construction (CIAC) to ensure accurate AFE setup and accounting treatment.

  • Provide guidance, training, and ongoing support to stakeholders on project accounting processes, policies, Oracle Project Management (OPM), and Delegation of Authority (DOA) requirements.

  • Support regulatory, tax, and corporate reporting requirements, including CWIP reporting, AFUDC support, and other project accounting analyses.

  • Collaborate with project teams, business partners, and auditors to resolve issues, support audits, and drive continuous process improvements.

  • Apply working knowledge of US GAAP to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting for capital projects, including consistency with regulatory requirements.

  • Respond to external audit inquiries and other internal/external audit requirements, providing documentation and explanations to support project accounting balances and processes.

Who You Are:

  • Related university degree and/or CPA professional designation in Accounting, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in project accounting, capital accounting, or a related finance function.

  • Experience with project accounting processes including AFEs, accruals, capital asset capitalization, reclassifications, and account reconciliations.

  • Strong digital literacy and proficiency with Oracle ERP systems, specifically Project Accounting/Oracle Project Management (OPM).

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including use of querying tools, pivot tables, and data analysis features.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with customer-focused approach and ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex accounting and process issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; approachable, collaborative, and respectful of diverse perspectives.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and balance detailed work with broader business considerations.

  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter while also functioning effectively within a team.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based role with extensive computer and desk work, requiring strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Occasional travel (approximately 5%) to other Enbridge locations or meetings as required.
