About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Project Accounting to lead project accounting operations across a portfolio of construction businesses specializing in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects.

This role is ideal for a construction accounting professional with deep expertise in Work-in-Process (WIP) reporting, Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, job costing, AIA billing, and ASC 606 revenue recognition. You will partner closely with project managers, operations leaders, and finance teams to ensure financial accuracy, improve project visibility, and support profitable growth.

As a key member of the finance organization, you will help strengthen project accounting processes, improve reporting capabilities, and drive greater consistency across multiple operating companies.


What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Lead WIP reporting, Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, and ASC 606 revenue recognition across an active portfolio of construction projects.
  • Partner with Project Managers and operations leaders to drive accurate forecasting, margin visibility, and project financial performance.
  • Oversee AIA billing, T&M billing, change orders, retainage, and accounts receivable tracking.
  • Support audits, surety and bonding requirements, and financial reporting needs.
  • Improve project accounting processes, controls, systems, and reporting capabilities across the organization.

What You'll Bring (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of project accounting or construction accounting experience within construction, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or specialty contracting
  • Deep experience with:
    • WIP schedules and POC accounting
    • ASC 606 revenue recognition
    • Job cost / cost coding discipline
    • AIA billing + subcontract management
  • Experience with construction ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite (strongly preferred), Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, Spectrum, or similar
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel + financial modeling capability 
  • Able to effectively partner with and influence project managers, superintendents, and operational leaders
