Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build, update, and maintain transmission and generation models supporting reliability, economic, and policy studies through collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders-including Transmission Owners, Generator Owners, Balancing Authorities, RTOs/PCs.
    • Lead and support ERAG MMWG model development, data management, case preparation, and reporting along with modeling work associated with planning-related NERC compliance filings (MOD, TPL), ensuring adherence to OATT/Tariff and FERC/NERC requirements.
    • Provide comprehensive technical engineering support for internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate modeling data submissions.
    • Analyze highly complex system data, identify and mitigate modeling risks, and implement engineering solutions.
    • Make timely decisions affecting the design, scheduling, and completion of projects that may affect multiple departments or the division.
    • Contribute to and influence complex projects requiring coordination across multiple departments and divisions.

Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering
    • Four years related energy industry experience (eight preferred) with Transmission Owners, Generator Owners, Balancing Authorities, RTOs, or Planning Coordinators.
    • Power system modeling experience, including power flow and dynamic simulation tools such as PSS®E, MUST, TARA, TSAT.
    • Exposure to power system planning, bulk electric system operations, substation design, or protection/control engineering.
    • Experience supporting FERC/NERC compliance evidence.

Technical Skills
• Power system modeling; power flow, voltage, and dynamic analysis
• Tools: Siemens PSS/E, GE PSLF, Powertech PSA tools, Siemens MUST, TARA, VSAT, TSAT, PSCAD, Siemens MOD, MISO Model Manager
• Database experience (Oracle, HABITAT)
• Understanding of NERC & FERC regulatory requirements
• UNIX, Windows, Linux administration
• Python, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting languages

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $124,000-149,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
