Job description

Research Scientist

Research scientists typically work in a laboratory environment, conducting research and experiments for academic, industrial or commercial ends. They may help develop new products for their company, for example, or help contribute to scientific understanding within their field.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the formulation, development, and optimization of new programs, designs, and prototypes.
  • Participate in research formulating and writing with other staff.
  • Assess new technologies and future applications of technologies.
  • Propose, plan, and manage research projects, report preparation, and presentation of findings.
  • Apply for grants to continue their research
  • May be required to mentor, train and/or coach junior research scientists
  • Stay up to date on developments within their field through methods such as reading academic journals, attending training programs and attending conferences within their field.

Bachelors degree or higher in a scientific discipline with adequate experience (MS with 0-2 yrs; BS with 0-4 yrs).

Background in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical engineering, process engineering. Formulation and process experience with hydrogel and contact lens care are desired. Must be able to write reports and communicate well to internal customers.
