Description:

The Payroll Manager oversees and supervises the payroll functions for PEG Companies, Inc.’s and its subsidiaries’, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, benefits withholdings, and company deductions. The Payroll Supervisor ensures proper governmental reporting and compliance, prepares statistical reports, and directs the activities of payroll staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops best practices to improve efficiency of payroll processes.
  • Reviews and recommends improvements to existing payroll procedures.
  • Coordinates with HR and accounting as appropriate to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Oversees procedures and processes and manages inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll and benefits administration.
  • Processes payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee payroll and benefits records.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour, and benefits laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll software, systems, and procedures.
  • Assists with proper benefits administration, reconciliation, and compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with multi-state, company payroll and tax reporting
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, advanced skills in excel.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. Equivalent years of experience in role may be substituted for degree.
  • Human Resource professional certification desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to endure prolonged periods working on a computer
  • Ability to lift and move up to 15 pounds
