Job description

Pediatric Dentist

The Pediatric Dentist serves as the primary care provider for pediatric dental patients, delivering both emergency palliative treatment and comprehensive dental care to the patient population at the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center (JPA). This role includes coordinating dental care with medical providers, maintaining accurate patient records, promoting dental education, and supporting quality assurance initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary dental care provider for pediatric patients seeking treatment.

• Provide emergency palliative treatment and comprehensive dental services, including appropriate referrals when needed.

• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient records for all dental care activities.

• Coordinate dental care with medical care providers through documented verbal or written communication.

• Participate in Quality Assurance activities as directed by the Dental Director.

• Promote dental care education through direct patient interaction and community outreach.

• Assist the Dental Director in developing and reviewing dental policies and procedures.

• Attend meetings, seminars, and conferences as deemed necessary by the Dental Director.

• Delegate appropriate duties to qualified auxiliary staff, ensuring responsibilities are carried out effectively.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dental Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with pediatric patients strongly preferred.

• Strong clinical skills in diagnosing, treating, and managing pediatric dental conditions.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Commitment to patient-centered care and community health.

Education & Licensure:

• Degree from an accredited School of Dental Medicine (DDS or DMD).

• Post Graduate Degree or Completed Residency Program in Pediatric Dentistry

• Successful completion of the National Board Dental Examination.

• Current New York State Dental License.

• Current DEA permit.

• Active and Current Medicaid Number and participation required

• Completion of a one-year residency program preferred.
