Forklift Operator

Permanent Full-Time

Abbotsford, BC

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Forklift Operator is responsible for efficiently and accurately assembling products for orders, loading orders onto trucks, loading and unloading production equipment and trucks as necessary.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Loads and unloads building material supplies safely and promptly on and off delivery trucks.
  • Accurately, efficiently, and safely picks and assembles customer orders for staging.
  • Set up lumber for wrapping.
  • Assists in general labour tasks as required.
  • Maintains a clean and organized yard.
  • Adheres to all work safety rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to customer service commitments.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Certification is required on a counterbalance forklift (8,000 to 18,000 lb capacity).
  • Minimum one (1) year experience is required.
  • Experience working in a lumber mill or lumber yard is desirable.
  • Must have own steel-toed boots.
  • Must be familiar with pulling and staging orders.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms.
  • Bending, lifting, and reaching during the course of the shift.
  • First Aid Certificate is an asset.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Permanent Full-Time

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm

NOTE: Hours may change due to operational requirements.

Transportation:  Must have own reliable transportation.  The site is not located on a bus route.
