SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Utility Operator is responsible for setting up and operating laser etching equipment to produce markings, lettering, and designs according to customer specifications. This position prepares workpieces, verifies machine setups, and performs first-piece inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Determine machine settings, measure and compute dimensions of lettering, designs, or patterns to be engraved to customer specifications.
  • Inspect etched work for depth of etching, uniformity, and defects using gauges, fingers, or magnifying lenses.
  • Prepare work pieces for etching or engraving by cleaning, polishing.
  • Place tool in designated V-block and set laser to appropriate head height.

Run first piece to assure set up. Make adjustments as required and obtain approval from supervisor.
