Job description

What You Will Do:
As a Software Engineer Level 1 at Independent Software, you will develop, maintain, and enhance software systems supporting mission-critical operations. You will work both independently and within a team to design, build, and test solutions that process data, support system integration, and meet performance requirements.
You will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, helping deliver reliable, scalable solutions aligned with mission needs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze user requirements and translate them into software design and functionality
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and components
  • Debug software and resolve defects in a timely manner
  • Modify existing software to improve performance or add new functionality
  • Integrate software into new or existing systems and environments
  • Develop and execute basic database queries to support data processing
  • Participate in code reviews and follow development best practices
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Collaborate within Agile teams to support iterative development

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (Java, Python, C, or C++)
  • Experience developing, testing, and debugging software
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
  • Basic experience with databases and writing queries (SQL or similar)
  • Understanding of software design and system integration concepts
