Job Description
Provide Parks Recreation Department with additional office assistance. Operate Parks Recreation Department facilities during weeknights and weekends. Assist with recreation programs and special events.
Job Functions
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
  • Assist with office duties of the Department.
  • Perform scorekeeping/coaching/teaching duties for youth and adult recreation programs on weeknights and weekends.
  • Help with the set-up, implementation, and breakdown of special events.
  • Operate swimming pool concession stand during business hours.
  • Monitor the use of equipment and activities
  • Assist with the safety of equipment users and staff.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of facilities.
  • Welcome customers and answer questions.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must have some previous work experience
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position, may be substituted or evaluated at the discretion of the City.

  • Recreation programs and good safety practices.

Ability to:
  • Monitor recreation program participants and respond quickly and effectively in an emergency situation.
  • Respond to simple requests or inquiries from the general public.
  • Complete simple math calculations and make change.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Tasks involve the ability to exert light to medium physical effort lifting up to 50 lbs. The position requires constant walking. Some tasks frequently involve sitting, carrying, crouching, foot controls, vision, pushing/pulling and balancing. Occasionally fixed dexterity, reaching, handling, hearing and climbing is required.
Full-time employees are eligible to participate in our standard benefits program which includes:
  • Vacation leave accruals at the rate of 3.33 hours per pay period x 24 pay periods;
  • Paid holidays that are determined on an annual basis;
  • Employee paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance programs paid for by the City; (Effective on first day of the month after your hire date - family benefits are available and require premiums paid by the employee).
  • TMRS retirement plan that requires a mandatory employee contribution of 7% of gross earnings. The City matches this contribution at a rate of 2 to 1
