Director of Cardiopulmonary Services (Full Time)

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Patient Care Support, the CPS Director organizes and manages a comprehensive Cardiopulmonary Services Department, including the Sleep Disorders Center, and Cardiac Rehabilitation. The Director works closely with the Doctors and staff who work in the departments to assure high quality, efficient and safe patient care.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of process improvement in the Cardiopulmonary Services Department.
  • Manages directly or indirectly all departmental staffing.
  • Responsible for the establishment and execution of Respiratory Care, Neurodiagnostics, Cardiaodiagnostics, and Cardiac/ Pulmonary Rehab operational and capital budgets
  • Assists in the establishment of policies and procedures, which insure safe and effective Respiratory Therapy procedures, Cardiac Rehab, and Sleep Lab testing.
  • Reviews all quality improvement statistics and findings, and offers recommendations for appropriate actions.
  • Maintains all necessary clinical competency skills to care for cardiopulmonary patients.
  • Monitor quality control for Pulmonary Function Testing lab, Blood Gas lab (CLIA and CAP,) and Sleep Disorders Center.
  • Maintains reporting with Medical Director of Respiratory Care, Blood Gas Lab, Cardiac Rehabilitation and the Sleep Disorders Center.
  • Assures respiratory, neurodiagnostic, cardiodiagnostic, and cardiac rehab equipment maintenance.
  • Acts as a resources-person to nursing staff, departmental personnel, and physicians.
Skills & Abilities
  • Education - Graduate of an AMA approved school of respiratory therapy; Bachelors preferred.
  • Experience - Two to three years of supervisory experience and four to six years of clinical respiratory care experience in a hospital setting.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Electronic Medical Records software and Spreadsheet Design software.
  • Certifications & Licenses - Registered Respiratory Therapist with NBRC. Current Respiratory Therapist License in the state of Kansas. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP and STABLE.
