Black Diamond Group is seeking a full-time Manager, IT Operations & Security, based in Calgary, AB.This is an in-office role.

The Manager, IT Operations & Securityย  leads day-to-day IT operations, end-user support, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 administration, technology projects, vendor management, IT procurement, software licensing, hardware lifecycle management, and the practical adoption of AI tools across the organization.

We are seeking a hands-on IT leader who can balance operational reliability, user experience, security, governance, and continuous improvement. They will be comfortable working across Microsoft 365, Entra, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, endpoint management, service desk processes, cybersecurity tools, and modern AI-enabled productivity platforms such as Microsoft Copilot.

The ideal candidate is a practical, security-minded IT leader who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, supporting users, and helping the business get more value from technology. They should be equally comfortable discussing Microsoft 365 architecture, cybersecurity risk, AI governance, service desk performance, vendor issues, licensing, hardware procurement, infrastructure lifecycle, and day-to-day operational priorities.This position requires someone who can lead a technical team, communicate clearly with business stakeholders, manage risk, improve processes, and translate business needs into secure, practical technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the IT Operations, Support, Security & Technology function, including service desk delivery, infrastructure support, endpoint management, Microsoft 365 administration, cybersecurity operations, and technology enablement.
  • Oversee Microsoft 365 services including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Sentinel, Purview, Power Platform, Azure and Copilot-related services.
  • Manage and improve IT service delivery, support processes, ticket management, escalation handling, documentation, onboarding/offboarding, device provisioning, and user enablement.
  • Lead cybersecurity practices including identity and access management, phishing awareness, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, incident response, policy enforcement, security monitoring, and audit/compliance readiness.
  • Support AI adoption across the business, including Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI tools, with a focus on productivity, responsible use, data protection, governance, and user education.
  • Develop and maintain IT policies, standards, procedures, knowledge base content, training materials, and operational documentation.
  • Own IT procurement and lifecycle management for software licenses, subscription renewals, servers, network infrastructure, laptops, mobile devices, accessories, and IT peripherals, including purchasing, renewals, asset tracking, budget planning, and vendor coordination.
  • Manage IT vendors, contracts, renewals, quotes, purchase approvals, service agreements, warranties, and ongoing supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective and reliable technology services.
  • Plan and deliver technology projects such as Microsoft 365 improvements, security initiatives, cloud services, endpoint modernization, collaboration tools, automation, integrations, and business system support.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work, improve reporting, strengthen security controls, and reduce operational risk.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand requirements, prioritize work, communicate risks, and deliver practical technology solutions that support business goals.
  • Lead, coach, and develop IT team members while setting clear expectations, priorities, service standards, and accountability.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including hands-on technical support, systems administration, cloud services, cybersecurity, and IT operations.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing IT staff, service delivery, security programs, technology projects, vendors, procurement, renewals, licensing, hardware lifecycle, or budgets.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Defender, Purview, and endpoint/device management.
  • Practical experience with modern cybersecurity controls, identity governance, conditional access, MFA, endpoint protection, phishing awareness, vulnerability management, incident response, and security policy enforcement.
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot, AI productivity tools, automation, and the governance considerations required to use AI safely in a corporate environment.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, troubleshoot complex issues, make sound risk-based decisions, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Power Automate, reporting, ITSM/ticketing systems, and process automation is considered an asset.
  • Relevant certifications are considered an asset, such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, Security+, Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, ITIL, PMP, or AI governance-related certifications.
  • Fluent in English, with strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
