Job description

As Marqeta's Investor Relations Manager you will support the company's investor relations efforts. The team is focused on maximizing shareholder value through effective communication of our value proposition. To do this we must tell a cohesive and data-driven story about our strategy, financial results, and operations to the financial community including new and existing investors as well as research analysts. This role will be tasked with implementing transparent systems and processes to allow our CEO and CFO to easily track communications with the investment community, in addition to assisting with data analysis and drafting materials. This role will also need to work cross-functionally across Marqeta to gain a strong understanding of our business and make sure the company is successfully communicating its strategic and financial opportunities with the investor community. This is a highly visible opportunity where you can have a measurable impact at a fast-paced company. You will report to the Director of Investor Relations.
While we work Flexible First, this role requires in-person presence at our Oakland office once a week. We'd love for you to join us!
The Impact You'll Have
  • Support the creation of materials related to the quarterly earnings call, including: earnings press release, scripts, Q&A, investor presentation, fact sheet, financial and legal back-up, post-event reporting, and transcript reviews, as well as other ad hoc analytical requests
  • Assist with development of board memos and other content to support broader finance team initiatives
  • Interact with the investment community in conversations regarding the Company's business model, operating results and business strategy
  • Support the Company's participation in investor and analyst events such as conferences, meetings, non-deal roadshows
  • Monitor and report on industry and peer company information and practices by tracking research reports, news, earnings calls, and other relevant resources
  • Analyze sell-side analyst notes and identify key themes to highlight for management
  • Review analyst models and build relationships with sell-side associates to understand how they built their models and their key underlying business and financial metric assumptions
  • Collaborate with third-party service providers, including those for web-hosting, surveillance, IR consultants, and targeting
  • Keep and document detailed notes of investors calls, summarize highlights, and track interactions in the database repository. Use this information to continuously improve our investor communication and target strategy

Who You Are
  • 4-6 years of finance/accounting experience - with investor relations experience in a publicly traded company or equity research highly preferred
  • Strong and detailed knowledge of financial statements, equity valuation models, and reporting requirements
  • Expertise working with and implementing AI tools
  • Strong knowledge of GSuite, Excel, or other data management tools
  • Knowledge of IR systems such as Nasdaq IR Insight, Alphasense, Virtua, Workiva a plus
  • Understanding of Reg FD and other SEC disclosure rules and regulations
  • Ability and comfort working independently across cross-functional internal teams and external relationships, and the ability to project manage multiple large scale projects
  • Superb communication skills, both spoken and written. Able to tell the story as well as the facts
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, computer science, or related field
  • Knowledge of the Payments industry is a huge plus
  • Must be intellectually curious

Compensation and Benefits
Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:
  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:
  • National: $125,840 - $157,300
  • Premium: $136,000 - $170,000
